I was at blogger and switched to wordpress self hosted installs - and it was one of the best decisions i've made.Congrats and good luck, i think you've made a good decision!

Good Job, Buck. Trust me, you are going to save lots of time. I have about a weekends worth of QA to do over my site's link now that I've finally transitioned from Blogger to Wordpress.

Self hosted Wordpress is always the best option. And it's easiest to do in the beginning. The longer you wait to switch the harder/more complicated it is.

Your own domain name is a must. Self-hosting is less of a must, but I highly recommend it. Wordpress and others have been known to pull the carpet out from under blogs from time to time.

Good info here. Just remember that the longer you wait, the longer potential work that buy yourself into when you see the amount of resources that you can start adding to your wordpress account once you go to wordpress.org.

When I was on blogger, I had paid for my own domain name earlier in my blogging "career". It's only $10 a year through Enom. So when I shifted the other day, my Alexa ranking did not change. In fact, it went down a couple of hundred thousand, which tells me that the Alexa ranking is tied not to your blog per se' but to your domain name.

I was in your boat. My Alexa was improving when I decided to switch. So, I switched and my Alexa sky rocketed to 15 MIL from about 700K! It took about three weeks to get it where I left off. Other than that - switching to self hosted website was the best decision I ever made.

Self hosted is so much better. I have two Blogger blogs and they are so limited as to their capabilities. My self hosted blog outperforms them all and has so much more upside potential than those two. I will have to switch to self hosting for those two if I want to grow them further.

I started with Blogger in February and switched to Wordpress by April and would never go back. Yes, your Alexa will start from scratch, but it will plummet way faster and the trackback feature alone pays off. Good luck!
