I recently got an email from Jack Reed pushing for a guest post. Well he was obviously trying to advertising for his law firm or wherever he works, so I said that it would be a sponsored post and offered some rates. He then said he couldn't pay for it, and asked if I would consider doing a guest post for his personal blog. I said I would take a look at his post and decide.
Well, he sent a post with an imbedded link, and the post itself was almost identical to what he wrote at firstgenamerican.com I prompted responded and said I required original content, thanks but not thanks.
From my experience, he is not willing to pay and you might want to consider ignoring his emails. If anyone has had a different experience, please let me know.

Almost exactly the same thing happened to me! I think he goes around and tires to find blogs to put some ads for his business.

Well, not sure if 'imbedded link' is the right title or not, but he sets a link to a keyword in his post (so it shows up in blue). Click on it and it goes to his website.
He is very persistent so try not to email him back. If you give him an inch, he will try and take a free mile.

Come on Kris, you are better than that! Its e-mail and you have admin privileges on your blog. Delete the post, tell him no, etc.
Generally, when I get these types of e-mails I say if you want to link to a non-blog I need a sponsorship fee. They say no you go on with your life.

Second on this! He was nice not rude but he was persistent.

Thanks for the help here folks. Without this Yakezie forum I would have posted his "Investment Tips for Beginners" w/o compensation – and tbh, it is a piece I can write just as well, but taylored to Canadians – heck I think I can do better!

This one was already in my list of 150+ ;)
Somehow I don't think we'll "burn out" or lose interest in this hobby. I just need to balance it with my home improvement and carpentry hobbies! Since I quit gaming, and got our personal finances in sustainable order, I need a new outlet :D

Yes, he contacted me too. Seemed creepy so after wasting some time, stopped responding to his PERSISTENT emails. Glad I made the correct decision.

He actually sent me a pretty decent article. My problem is that he lied and passed himself off as a blogger. The link was for some law firm so the post had to be dropped.

I got a few emails from Kevin Craig at the Oak View Law Group recently. I just noticed that he signed his last email "Marie"!
I told him that I am open for sponsored posts and then he came back with this Law Group, claiming it was a personal site! Hahahaha…and now I just noticed "marie"!
These people are too much!

You know when I was reading this thread it reminded me of a similar person a one 'Ms. Sharon Smith'. Same characteristics – very persistent, embedded links and the law firm! This person contacted me a while back – April of 2010 when my blog was like 2 months old! Something about this person tripped me and I politely declined didn't carry the guest post.
Looks like is all the same person!
That is one law firm I'll keep away from!

Yep it was! OVLG. I hated that I had to waste time reading, editing, and then taking down the post. It was a complete waste of time.

This isn't the same Jack Reed from http://darngoodblogging.com/, is it? I published a guest post for him and it seemed like a decent post — didn't see any duplicates out there.
