Hello All!

I posted a discussion topic on my blog, and essentially Im curious as to your thoughts on any correlation (if any) between an Alexa ranking and income generation from your blog? Google page ranking and income generation? Or perhaps site views?

I'd love for you to come by the blog and leave a comment if you have a moment! As a new member of the Yakezie challenge, I've been giving a lot of thought to my Alexa ranking, and to my initial goal of income generation, and I'd like to know more about how they coincide.

i have a dozen plus niche websites and a blog that i have been lately focusing on. in my experience, none of those variables are correlated by any means.  trust your analytics software, subscribership/readership and emails/queries received.

I don't think there's much if any correlation between Alexa and income generation. mozRank correlates better and PageRank correlates even better. Of course if you have a very good Alexa then you probably also have a good mozRank and PageRank, though Google takes forever to update the latter.

Agreed.

We have a decent mozRank of 4.72.  Our Alexa is about 93,000.  But we're a super young blog – not even 4 months old.  Progress has been fast – but perhaps too fast to even be noticed, especially by the big G.  We got no notice in the (rare) update G did in January.  Perhaps the next one we will.

Some of the messaging has been "work hard, keep at it, be consistent, write great content and keep it up!" and things will work out for bloggers on the financial side of things.  When I was "newer" I hoped for more, but I realize now that this is not a sprint.  Build readership, make your SEO a BIG part of your traffic, find your niche and your crowd.

I don't think there is a correlation between Alexa ranking and income generation. I believe wisebreads posted a link on this forum before how alexa ranking can be gamed easily and having a good alexa rank does not necessarily mean you have high income.

My blog has been around for 7 months already but I have been inactive with the Yakezie for two months and I'm just coming back. I have a decent alexa rank but have not broken the 200,000 barrier yet but my blog already earns $50 in google ads in March 2011 so far, which is good enough to pay for the hosting fees, internet connection, etc. I think the earnings all depends on the article that you are writing and how good your articles rank with the search engine.
