Hey guys,

Just curious where people stand on putting ads or banners for friends for free, just to selflessly help them out.  Would it lessen the blow if I mentioned, not getting paid, just helping out a friend?  I noticed some cross linking with other personal finance blogs, but what if they were for online businesses?

Thanks! Cool

Buck

I personally don't think it is a sell out.  Part of what makes the blogging community great is bloggers' willingness to help promote one another.  That is one of the main goals of Yakezie.  I would do.  I have offered to do it for a few bloggers who have helped me out with suggestions on my blog.

I have Evan's Pregnancy Pool Badge on my site's homepage for free.  I think it's nice to help out where I can.

It's never wrong to help a friend out by advertising for them. As long as you believe in the product, why not?

As long as I like the product, I wouldn't mind advertising, esp. if it is a friend or someone I know.

Everything is an exchange. Just because money wasn't exchanged doesn't mean value wasn't exchanged. I don't mind helping out fellow PFers and Yakeziers because I know that we both benefit from the exchange. :)

That's what networking is all about.  Contractors recommend paiters who recommend plumbers who recommend mechanics, etc…

A free ad for a friend isn't a sellout.

Taking any ad that comes your way just for the money, even when you don't like the ad and it's morally qestionable – that's selling out.
