Is it worth adding an "advertising" page to my blog?

The easiest thing to do is to just place advertising info on your contact page.

I've had my blog for almost 2 years and only within the last 2 weeks, since adding an advertising page almost a month ago have I had serious advertising inquiries.  It can't hurt!

I'm digging my way out of some serious debt at

I agree that it won't hurt, but you also want to avoid diluting your brand.  If your blog is new, then it might be better to build up authority.  If you form a bunch of advertising relationships early, then you may end up setting price precedents.  You don't want to end up as a PR 5 blog that is now fighting with advertisers for $75/month when they were getting $30/month.

My apologies if I'm overstepping my bounds as your question wasn't "should I sell advertisements."  I just wanted to share that information in case it wasn't considered.  But to address your question directly, I think that the page could be helpful.  At the very least, you could add a section to the "about us" or "contact us" page.

Thanks,
Timothy

I just renamed my Contact Page "Contact / Advertising" and have gotten 2 interested replies in the last 24 hours.  I don't know about brand dilution or anything (I have no idea if advertising now will hurt me later), but I just wanted to let you know that you don't have to make a whole advertising section if you don't feel like it.  Good luck!

Hey Crystal,

That's great to hear the quick results that you received.  You've got a well established blog so I think you're OK, but for a 1 month old blog, it might be a bit more apt to set precedents.  From your example though, I think it is clear that putting something indicating "advertise" seems to help!

Thanks,
Timothy

Okay Crystal, you've inspired me to try this.  I'll put up a contact/advertising page and report back with the results.

Hey Dana,

If it works out, be sure to come back and let us know.  Consistent results will definitely be an indicator, and help us little guys out in the future :)

Thanks,
Timothy

I just got another email 5 minutes ago, so I'd highly suggest adding the word "Advertise" somewhere on your tabs if you do want to monetize.  I'll let you know if any one of these 3 people actually follow through or not.  :-)

Very interesting stuff guys. Do you recommend adding any specific info to the contact page, or do you think that simply naming it "Advertise" would already be a good start? I'm going to try this out…

I literally just added "/ Advertise" to my "Contact" tab (so now it says "Contact / Advertise") and have already received 3 emails over the weekend.  I didn't add anything else or any descriptions.

Yeah, you've been kicking my ass in the monetization aspect. ;) I think I need to start getting more serious about this.

I don't want to mislead, I got 3 emails but I haven't made any sales off of them yet.  One guy seems very interested but we haven't nailed it down yet.

I just have an advertising blurb on my Contact Me page. Maybe I should look in to putting a specific Ad page up though.

At the end of the day an advertising page won't hurt you. It will simply save you some time. You can include your ad rates and what you expect from advertisers just to ensure that you won't have to respond to the same email 5 times a day (this will happen to you soon!).

I have a Word Doc with a general reply and rates that I cut and paste as needed.  I didn't want to post them on my site in case I can work out even better deals, lol.  I've only been able to upsell a few times, but that's better than never.  :-)

Yeah, rates can discourage potential advertisers.  It's good to have them reach out to you, that way you always have a contact to work with in the future.

Thanks,
Timothy

You have an advertising canned email response or an advertising page?

It looks like I need to add an advertising page. Hopefully, it will get me some new advertisers or at least weed out the ones that want to make low-ball offers.
