Is it worth adding an "advertising" page to my blog?

I just renamed my Contact Page "Contact / Advertising" and have gotten 2 interested replies in the last 24 hours.  I don't know about brand dilution or anything (I have no idea if advertising now will hurt me later), but I just wanted to let you know that you don't have to make a whole advertising section if you don't feel like it.  Good luck!

crystal, I am going to follow your example and see what happens. Even though I agree with WealthArtisan that it might be too early for young blogs… such as mine. Oh well… it can't hurt, right?

You and I have the same patience level, lol.  I sold my first link ads on BFS about 7 weeks after I started.  :-)

Anyone have their advertising page at the bottom of the homepage? That's where mine is (just a page that gives my email and says to contact me), and I've only gotten one email so far. However, I'm not sub-200k on Alexa yet, so that's probably the reason.

I really don't want it at the top of my site. Don't you think advertisers are accustomed to looking at the bottom? I'm so new to this, I don't really know.

I wanna be a Thousandaire so freaking bad!

I rarely look at the bottom so I never thought about what the advertisers would be used to.  I would think everything is more prominent at the top, but if you don't like the look, then it doesn't matter, lol.  That's the awesome thing about having your own blog!  :-)

My priorities are in this order:  regular readers, occasional readers, lurkers, then MONEY.  So I try not to annoy anybody with pop ups or anything, but I do accept all kinds of ads on my sidebars and old posts, and I am willing to put "Advertise" on one of my most visible tabs.  But I'm attempting to turn this into a full time job by 2012.  If I wasn't, I probably would get rid of Adsense since they annoy me, lol.

I put up an Advertising page last month, and I too have noticed more emails asking about rates and advertising on my site in general.  It seems like I send off my rates and sometimes I never hear anything back (I think some of the request are other bloggers that are curious what I charge).

After the change to Wisebread's Top pf bloggers list, I figured I could use as much help as possible with advertisers. :)

All of these posts look pretty consistent.  Advertising pages seem to work!

I'm interested in learning how you establish advertising rates/fees.  Anyone have a model they would be willing to share with the Yakezie community?

(my blog is far too new to attempt to leverage anything, but i'd like to keep an eye on the future)

Thanks!

This discussion just motivated me to put an 'advertise' page on my site.  I will let everyone know if I am flooded with offers with my sweet page rank of 0!  :)

I can email you my general rate table if you'd like – what email address should I use?

Okay,

Here's my update after putting up the advertising page.   I had 3 inquiries – all of which were for payday loan ads (which I don't accept).

We'll see what happens next week  Smile

Feel free to pass those peeps along to me (budgetingfunstuff@gmail.com).  I don't accept affiliate links very often, would you like me to pass those your way?  :-)

The Advertising page is a must in my opinion.

This is your best opportunity to describe your site and get attention from advertisers. You can also avoid a lot of emails and replies by telling them what you offer as advertising opportunities.

I have a great success by having an advertising page (and an advertising kit to send advertisers).

Cheers,

Mike.

Hi Mike,

What does the advertising kit look like? Is it a rate table?

Hi Crystal,

Would you mind sending me the table as well?  I would really appreciate it.  I am going to put up an advertising button on my blog, but have no idea what to charge.  I am very new to this but am excited to earn money by blogging!  WayRich14@aol.com  Thanks!

i think it is good once your blog is established and you are getting ad queries.  that said, i know that search engines (google particularly) is against it as it suspects people pay for links leading back to their websites (flow of PR juice)
