Stimulating your Personal Economy: my August Challenge

Hey everyone,

I officially challenged my readers and listeners to take steps toward stimulating or creating their own personal economy. The idea is, if enough people are shoring up their personal finances and helping others to do the same, we free up disposable income to support businesses, which in turn creates jobs.

Here's the original post I published this morning: http://wp.me/pLCKI-bk7. We're looking for comments on what people are doing to improve their finances, help others with their finances, etc.

I wanted to throw it out there as a few other bloggers outside this
network have picked up on the challenge and are mentioning it. If anyone
else wants to jump on it, feel free to promote. We might even be able
to do a giveaway at the end of the month to the most creative personal
economic stimulus packages.

I'm open to any feedback or suggestions as well. If it's a dumb idea, don't be afraid to tell me (I have thick skin). If it's a good idea, I'd like to hear suggestions to make it an even better idea.

Thanks guys and gals!

Interesting!

From my experience at a small start-up company, the best way to support small businesses would probably be through evangelism, or "spreading the word."

Maybe create events for these small businesses in your neighborhood like NYC's Restaurant week (except those restaurants are very high-end and not "small business" at all).

Or help them set up job/career fairs in your neighborhood.

:) Keep us posted on how this goes!

Good ideas. I'll start working with some local businesses to see how we can promote them to the community.
