I've been a participant in the Yakezie challenge for 3 months this week… so I thought I'd share several things I've learned and extend an offer to those just starting out.  First, what I've learned:

- Skills (how to's):

- Add widgets

- Generate discussion, not just comments (a work in progress)

- Optimize for SEO (I had never even heard of this… now I'm thinking about it at least)

- Create an "a href" tag (no, it's not a disease)

- Change an image size and upload it to a post

- So much more…

- Aspects I've flirted with but not yet mastered by any means:

- All of the above

- How to create a Facebook page (only 4 likes so far I think Embarassed)

- Social media links (on my page, but still unsure of impact)

- Twitter… scheduling Tweets! I love this feature!

- A contest that hasn't really taken off for some reason Wink

- Contributing meaningfully to others… I feel I have more to receive than give because I'm so new…

There is so much I could say about this experience… One thing I've realized is that my focus is not as widely held as an interest as I thought it would be. I'm surprised how few people engage their investments with thought, purpose, and self-direction… but I'm not giving up on you.

And now for the number… from an embarrassing 2.1 Million Alexa rating to… (*drumroll…) 173,440.

No, I didn't forget to add any zeros… I know… how strange… I never dreamed that would be the case in 12 months, let alone 3 months.  So, THANKS!  I'm so appreciative of this community.

For those of you who are starting out… an offer… please, contact me.  I'll help you with any of the above… as so many have helped me.  Just go to my site, shoot me an email.

Thanks everyone! Laugh

After starting slow for the first 5 months, I've come to realize that blogging is really about constant learning.  While I'm still a small fish in a big pond, at least I'm growing as I learn :)

A membership in Yakezie can help you jump 6 or 7 months in growth versus a site that isn't a member, and I believe the growth rate by being in will still be higher than if you weren't in the group.

Here's the cool thing, as your friends in Yakezie and the Yakezie website itself grows, you get indirect boost in your site's growth too!  How cool is that! It's a win-win-win.  You win by being in touch with similar bloggers and form friendships, you win by having members help you (especially if you ask and are active), and you win by support by the Yakezie site itself (via PR growth of the Yakezie, the Yakezie carnival and all the other clever mechanisms that the Yakezie create).

Congrats on your success!  I may have to hit you up on converting my personal Facebook page to a regular fan one with a

like button.  So many things to work on.  As for your comment about people not putting in the time for their investments.  I think with my life I spend time at home, work, blog, which already absorbs a lot of the day.  The scraps of time left goes into investments, retirement planning, and traveling.  I don't know how people do it.  So keep up your noble quest!

I agree with you about the Yakezie affect. I don't know how far back my site would have been if I wasn't a part of this group!

You're doing great, and as soon as I am done typing here I'mm off to friend / like your Facebook page.

I think it's important to pause, reflect, and take stock of your progress towarda major goal like Yakezie membership. Like others above, I have not stopped learning since beginning this blog. I suspect the moment I don't learn anything new will be the day I stop. There's a thousands ways to do this better and it's awesome fun experimenting to find what works for you.

There's no way my blog would have flourished to half this level without my having joined Yakezie. This is a great group, inspirational and supportive. Congrats on your success!
