How do you get the majority of photos for your blog(s)? Trying to figure out if it's worth it to start using a stock photo agency, or just use my own photos or creative commons pictures.
How much do you spend a month on images?

I have never paid for a photo and use creative commons photos for the majority of the images on my blog. Other sources are the government archives (free) and my own.

I was using photo dropper but it stopped working a few weeks ago and I never figured out why.
I also use Zemanta but often prefer photodropper as I can then choose the caption I want to use instead of being forced to use a caption to give credit (I prefer to give credit outside of the photo at the bottom of a post).

I search them on Creative Commons with a commercial use license (A monetized blog is not a straight forward commercial/non commercial site, but I chose to play it safe). I have found plenty so far, so never had a problem.
@Jacob, no you can't use google image even if you give credit. All rights reserved license means you just can't use them, period. I suggest using creative commons licensed photos.

Thanks for sharing Suba. It looks like there's a way to do a google image search on Creativecommons.org that screens for images that are available for commercial use. Can we use those?

Yes, you can use them. Creative commons search engine also includes flickr photos (most of my photos are from them, lot of folks with good heart share their photos) and wikimedia (wikipedia photos/videos). So till now I never paid for photos. On rare occasions I needed something complicated, I modify the photos I found on CC to my liking. Worked so far…

I mostly use my own, but I also occasionally use http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/ free if you give credit, inexpensive if you don't want to.

I currently use either Flickr or Free Digital Photos. I have yet to pay for a picture, but I've been having a hard time finding certain ones lately.

When I'm looking for a specialized photo I use Fotolia.com. Many professional photos are available there for $1.25 to $1.50.
