I'm trying to decide what to use and I'm curious to see what your preferences are.  There are tons of options out there!

Thanks,

Timothy

The adsense optimizer plugin is very good and powerful. But it didn't work well with my set of other plugins (if it does, it is a very nice plugin). Then I moved to why do work plugin, that worked fine. Finally got rid of all the plugin after I bought thesis, now I don't use any plugin for adsense. Adsense optimizer - http://www.adsenseoptimizer.de/ or why do why adsense…

Thanks Suba! Does Thesis make adding Adsense really easy also?

It does make it easier than other themes. There are separate "hooks" for before content, after title, after content, before footer… so you could just access the hook and paste your code in the relevant section.

But to do more than that you will need to know very very basic php. Instead of just adding the script, you will have to include

if (is_single()){

//adsense script

}

similarly you need to add another if statement if you want to add adsense to posts more than x days old.

All of these can be done with the plugins I mentioned. I just went with the code because I like to have minimum plugins and it is a single line addition. With thesis hooks, there is no guess work on where you have to add the code, you won't change any of your theme code at all. If you ever move to thesis, let me know, I could help with all these little customization.

Oh btw, when I visited your site this morning, all I could see was the default wordpress blog with no posts, just the "this is another wordpress blog" post… are you doing a redesign?

Thanks for the tips.  I did a host migration, things should look a lot more "normal" now.  There should be many more things coming up the road, but this is definitely a big step in the right direction.  I'll post a more comprehensive breakdown of my changes in a more formal post once it is all completed.

Thanks,

Timothy

I use Who Sees Ads.

You still have to enter the code you need but it will set Adsense to show (or not show) under set circumstances.

I use the Whydowork Adsense plugin so I can only show the huge Adsense block below my titles on posts older than 5-7 days (I don't remember which one I picked).

I just use plain old fashion AdSense code with text bar widgets and the template editor. I am a fan of using fewer plugins when I know how to do it easily myself.

I never used a plugin – just regular old ad-sense. This one makes sense to me though.

I use both Why Do Work and Who Sees Ads – I guess that's what happens when you know absolutely nothing about websites or code!

Thanks everyone.  I've started using Easy Peasy which is working well along with adsense code in text widgets.  It's working well so far.  I really appreciate all of the ideas!  :)

Just remember to be careful if you target ads to your visitors and you're also using a cache plugin — the target ads might then be cached for ALL visitors until the cache expires.
