On the right side of the same bar as the breadcrumb links (Home > Yakezie Forums > Help Desk > Is there a way…) there is a number that says "X Topics with Unread Posts" where X is a number.  If the number is greater than zero, there will be two icons, one to read them and the other to mark them all as read.  Let me know if you need anything else.
