Does anyone have a set of FPU DVDs? | Personal Finance & Lifestyle | Yakezie Forums

I finally got my husband to agree to try Financial Peace University, I was wondering if anyone has a set of FPU DVDs they are looking to sell or loan?

Also, any experiences would be great too, positive or negative.

We already have a budget, I'm just looking at this as a way to get my husband and I more involved and on the same page with finances.

So as far as I am concerned, FPU was the catalyst of a paradigm shift in our finances and our marriage. BTW, that $900 surplus every month has crept up to almost $1800/monthly. Our lifestyle has been cut but our quality of life and marriage has increased dramatically.

Now your results may vary depending on your income, your level of debt, and your current lifestyle. Regardless, I believe it will still! Good luck!

By the way, I previously had a 13 post rundown of the Financial Peace University class on my site that I could have shared, but I ended up taking it down because I got a cease and desist from Dave Ramsey's Lampo Group lawyers – saying it was too close to their class materials or some nonsense.  I thought about fighting it, but since it didn't get a ton of traffic I decided to just cave and take it down.  Go figure.

That's kind of funny. When I talked to my husband I was laughing about how expensive the program is. Apparently getting out of debt is supposed to cost me. I'm probably just going to borrow Financial Peace from the library, since I already have Total Money Makeover. I know the DVDs would be great because my husband and I are more visual learners, but unless I can find them on craigslist, I can't justify incurring more expenses to pay off debt.

There's actually a reason why they actually charge what they do for the program.. They actually at one point did more of the scholarships and reduced price FPU packets, but what they found is that people who didn't have to pay or who paid less were much less successful in the program, in part because they weren't as invested in it. They got the program for free or reduced rate so there wasn't as much incentive to work hard at it.  Seems silly but it happens to be true..

I understand the need to charge as people assess value with price, and I know it is a bargain. However, since I'm actually trying to stay true to the principles I've already learned I'm not sure the cost for FPU is in the budget if there's another way to obtain the materials. Also, I saw an ad on craigslist (for a kit that sold in a day) where the person mentioned they were selling their kit to help finish their debt snowball. It seems there was a wise circle of life thing going there.
