When Have You Asked For Help?

I had to ask for help with my debt from a charity (Debt Support Trust). The difference between those days and today is night and day but I couldn't have arrived at this point without going through the difficult stage.

I, like many people, hate asking for help.

I've been reading a lot about getting your Alexa rank below 200,000 and many people say that to do this you need to interact and even write for other people on their blog. It's something I'm not adverse to but approaching people to ask is something I'm not good at. Again, I suck at asking for help.

Does anybody have any tips or advice on writing for other people? Or is it just a case of getting on with it and asking? What's the worst that can happen? I'm told no and that my writing is rubbish?!

Anybody else rubbish at asking for help?

John,

First of all, your writing is not rubbish! I haven't been a regular commenter (sorry) but I am enjoying your site.

As far as asking for help goes, I do tend to have problems with this.  I always want to do everything myself. Plus I can sometimes have trouble feeling like I'm obligated to someone for helping me.

As far as guest posting on others, the way I see it, you are doing them at least as much of a favor as they are doing you. Unless they are super-prolific about their writing, there are going to like having one less post to have to write themselves.

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

Hi Edward,

Thanks very much, I really appreciate your comments and advice.

I suppose finding the time to write articles can be tough for other people so I guess it's a mutual benefit. Plus I get to meet lots of other PF writers!
