Do you use the same description for multiple carnival submissions?

Seems that I should be changing it for each one, but if everyone else duplicates descriptions, then I'm not gonna bother.

What do you do?

Keep in mind that not all carnivals allow multiple submission…

Oh, I guess I should clarify – I meant submitting the same post to multiple carnivals.  Not submitting different posts to the same carnival at once.

Poor wording on my part. I meant that some carnivals require that you not submit the same article elsewhere.

I'll normally use the same wording unless I find what I have doesn't fit well with a specific carnival.

But that doesn't mean it's what's best.  Do what you think is best for your site.

Then oops!  I just submitted my most recent post to five carnivals.  Used different descriptions, though.  :0

How can you tell which ones prohibit this? I accessed several from this link, and there are no descriptions or rules posted as far as I can tell.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I think the CoPF asks for unique submissions. Not sure about others.

I typically only send one of my posts to one carnival. I always figured sending the same post to multiple carnivals might be spammy.  I know the Carnival of Personal Finance says that you aren't supposed to submit any post to another carnival that you submit to theirs.

In my experience hosting multiple carnivals around the same time period, I've found that is is very common for the same post to be submitted to multiple carnivals.

I usually use the same title and description for multiple carnivals unless it doesn't seem to fit with the general theme of one of them, then I will change it.

Thanks for all the advice, guys!  Sounds like everyone has their own way.  Bummer about the PF carnival…probably will prevent me from submitting most weeks.

This is what I do but I make sure I follow the rules. I always submit a separate post to the CoPF

I wouldn't let it stop you.  The CoPF is one of the better known carnivals.  You should be able to find one article that you can submit there exclusively, I would think.

Thanks for the heads up!  I'll definitely hit that one then.

Don't feel bad! I didn't know for sure until I started Yakezie.  A carnival is essentially a virtual roundup of related posts or posts from similar blogs.  Some carnivals are hosted by the same blog each week and some are hosted by a rotating list of bloggers.  You can find a beginning list of PF carnivals here.  Submission pages are pretty straightforward.

To illustrate, here's a recent tax carnival one of my posts was featured in.  Tax Carnival #107  Hope this helps!
