Our 9-year-old Tivo conked out a month or so ago, and I've realized I no longer have much interest in appointment television.  That, and I've been spending all my free-time lately teaching classes and writing blog posts.

I now only have one TV show that I have to watch each week plus one other that I'd prefer to watch, if I don't have anything better to do.

If you're a part-time blogger like me, you're burning the midnight (or early morning) oil to get in some quality blogging time. If you do this, how much TV do you watch?  Any particular shows you simply cannot miss? Just curious!

I watch one show and one show only – The Walking Dead. Other than that, I don't even really need a TV, but my son would die without it. I don't know how in the world I'd get any work done if I let myself get addicted to any shows!

I've never heard of that show!  Looks interesting, though.  My one vice: Fringe.

Not that much TV for me really. A lot of times, I'll just have reruns of Friends playing in the background while I'm on my computer working.

Depends on the season, of course. There are 3 shows I watch in the summer, True Blood (HBO), Falling Skies (TBS), and Hell's Kitchen (FOX). Of the fall shows, Fringe (I LOVE Fringe!–FOX), Once Upon a Time (ABC), Modern Family (ABC), Glee (I resisted for so long, but my wife finally got me hooked–FOX), and Vampire Diaries (another wife vice–CW). So 3 hours per week during the summer and 4 1/2 hours per week in the fall/winter/part of spring.

Almost all of it gets DVR'ed and watched at a later time. True Blood, Once Upon A Time, Glee, and Vampire Diaries get watched during the week on one of my wife's random days off and the other shows I watch on the weekend while my wife is at work and I am off.

In terms of blogging vs tv, I try to multitask. I'll set up the laptop on the coffee table and write during the commercials.

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

I watch TV Sunday night: Once Upon a Time, Revenge and 666 Park Avenue, and the Walking Dead. I will watch American Horror Story on Wed night. That's it. Who has time for more? :)

I've also considered setting up a computer in the kitchen (which overlooks the living room).  I want to watch a few shows, but I also don't want to wait until 11 p.m. to get online.

When I'm not so busy, I also watch Vampire Diaries,Tru Blood, and Once Upon a Time!  Love Modern Family, too!

Oh, and how can I forget How I Met Your Mother and The Middle?

Averaging it out, probably 2 hours a day. One hour of that doesn't really count. Morning Joe is always on in the mornings at my house, but I'm usually doing 10 other things while it's on.

We hardly ever watch TV anymore. We may watch a little bit of it before we go to bed, but it is always on Netflix or Hulu Plus. We don't even have cable. The only show that I "must watch" every week is SurvivorLaugh Otherwise, I just wait for the entire season to come out on Netflix.

A lot!  Well, a lot of Netflix and some Hulu, and my university's basketball games.  But I only watch 1 show without multitasking: new episodes of The Office.  Otherwise I'm always reading blogs or doing other internet timewasting activities.

Probably on average, five hours a week of television. Will watch: Falling Skies, The Walking Dead, and X Files when feeling nostalgiac. I believe The Walking Dead starts a new season this week, correct?

I think the bigger question s, how do you spend your time?  It would probably necessitate writing a diary to figure it out.  Although TV is the least productive thing I do, it doesn't prevent me from being productive.

I had to weigh in…. I love tv and watch almost every night (9-11) with my husband….. walking dead, revolution, breaking bad, boardwalk empire, perception, big bang theory, mob doctor, suits, person of interest, good wife, and hgtv ( you name it). It is our evening relaxation!!!!!

My theory, if you make sure to have some down/fun time, you'll be more productive during the day!!!

I will embarrass myself I were to write out all of my favorite shows lol. I will not lie – I was completely addicted to TV but I have managed to get a hold of my addiction. I still probably watch a minimum of 7-10 hours a week.

If you need tips on how to cut back on TV, I wrote out a bunch here that helped me: http://untemplater.com/self-improvement/how-to-overcome-a-tv-addiction-in-10-steps-a-personal-journey/

Way too much!  My current favorites are Warehouse 13, Fringe and Haven (do you detect a theme here?).

I'm a Fringe addict, and you're the second person who has mentioned Haven and Fringe in the same sentence recently. I'm afraid to check it out…sounds like I will have another addiction if I do!  Wink

Right now, I don't watch any TV during the week and watch a bunch during the weekend.  I like watching TV series on Netflix so I can watch episodes back to back.  On Sundays I watch football, although as bad as my team, the Chiefs, are playing I don't always make it through the whole game.

I recently got my hands on a British series called Lost Girl. Main character is a succubus private investigator who takes on cases involving other supernatural races. Been eating that show up.

FMV & Lena, I see we have the same taste in TV! I watch all 3 although I'm a bit wary of the future of Fringe. I won't write a spoiler in case you're not caught up, but I was a bit let down with the last episode.

1Haven has been getting better recently though, so that's my favorite of these three right now.
