Hi all,

If you wanted to have a guest post writer how do you set that up?  Is there a standard format or procedure you guys follow?  Also, if people comment, do you comment or do you give access to your guest post writer to comment back?  So many things to learn… Embarassed

You have them submit the article to you via email. You can choose whether to accept it as is, edit it, or just not use it. You can comment on guest posts run on your site if you want. The author can also comment by typing in their name and URL. You only need to give a staff writer or regular publisher access to your back end functions.

Buy Like Buffett hit what I was going to say spot on.  I'd only add that I also request my guest posters to check in and answer any comments or questions on their post since readers enjoy feedback and I enjoy a real day off, lol.  :-)

I have a guest post page for people to visit to find my guidelines.  That is easier than explaining every time.

Good point!  I also have a page with the general guidelines on my site.  If they don't see it before contacting me, it's easy to link to.  :-)

For the logistics of it, I setup my guest posters with a contributor user name that matches their's.  That way, when the post displays, it says "Title XYZ Posted by Contributor".  Plus, it gives them an additional link.  I DO NOT give them the password, so they cannot access my site's backend.

That's a great idea! I just have it say "guest", but I may incorporate your suggestion.
