I've set a goal for this week… to improve and increase comments on my site.  So, I'm wondering, when you comment on someone's site, what do you appreciate?

I appreciate a link to be able to subscribe to comments so I get emails so I can follow up and participate in the conversation.

I like the comment luv…

BUT… I'm not sure if you do too?  And, if so, would you take a moment to tell me how to add what it is you enjoy… and I'll make that a priority for me this week!  I'd love to generate a true conversation to help others.

Thanks!Laugh

@ MoneyistheRoot – Thanks… I agree… I like to generate a discussion if possible, not merely an "add-on" thought.  Thanks for sharing what you enjoy.  Is commentluv a widget for Wordpress?

@ Sunil – Yes, true… I often ask questions and do not receive a response, so it's great to get exactly that!  Perhaps you can assist me with commentluv?  I'm such a newbie!

Ok… so, I've added Comment Luv… it seems 2 for 2 (3 for 3 including me) like it.

Is there a way to add a button for people to subscribe to comments so they can track when a conversation is developing?

Personally, I like to see the blog owner responding to comments in some fashion, even if brief. Sometimes that's add-on thought, other times it's more detailed responses. Depends on time available for all of us, but bottom line is that an engaged blog owner is a good thing!

Also, I like to see that other commenters are enthusiastic and bring their own perspectives too, as we can learn (and be entertained) from others as well.

@ Squirrelers – Absolutely… very well said.  The diversity of ideas is to be celebrated… on a few occasions, a healthy dialogue emerges from people voicing their experiences.  Of course, in short comments, context can be difficult to measure.

Any thoughts on "links" that help you track with comments?

I think quite a people love comment luv. In addition to this, try to ask some questions at the end of your posts to generate some thought from your readers. Chances are, they'll be more likely to leave a comment.

You need to ask questions in order to facilitate a discussion.

So, my friends… where do I go to add a "subscribe to comments" link?  I love to be able to have any followup comments automatically notify me so I can go back to the site and participate, much like this thread has a subscribe button.

Any ideas?

There is a plugin for that. Just Google subscribe to comments plugin.

Definitely ask questions at the end of a post. The posts I forget to do this with, have fewer comments. Also, I appreciate when the blog owner responds to my comment. And I love Comment Luv!

Thanks Little House… I don't think we've met.  I'm gonna go drop by your blog and add it to my Yakezie folder so I can visit regularly.

I appreciate your thoughts!

I typically leave a comment if the author asks a question at the end of the post that is asking for feedback.
