As a BlogHer Ads member, I've always been under the impression that I could support more advertisements "above the fold" as long as they were text link ads and not graphic ads that would compete with my BlogHer ad. However, yesterday I was told I'd have to pull my text ads (which are Google ads) that are placed within my posts. Is anyone else experiencing this with BlogHer?  I'm a little miffed about this since I really don't want to rely on just one ad revenue source. I sort of feel they are trying to monopolize my ad space. Any thoughts?

That's why I don't do BlogHer ads. They do want a bit of exclusivity. I'm just not sure the revenue would justify it. I'm a big fan of diversifying – I use a little affiliates, a little direct sales, a little of Google and bit of staff writing. It just doesn't seem like a good idea to have my entire monetization plan wrapped up on one thing.

Exactly.  Just as BlogHer is free to ask the world of you, you're free to send them packing.

I quit BlogHer ads a few months ago because their restrictions just weren't worth the revenue.  It's great for people just starting out, but I felt I would make more money using that space for someone with less restrictions.
