Ready-to-Go Blog Content Bank

Writing blog posts used to be very difficult for me. But, now it has gotten easier over time. Part of the reason is that I created a bank of blog content that I prepared way in advance. This decreases the stress of having to come up with something write the night before. I just post the draft and schedule it for a certain date and time.

I'm quite sure that I'm not the only one who does this. But, I'm curious to know how many "ready-to-go" blog posts everyone thinks is sufficient as a good content bank account. I've heard that the magic number is 30 pieces of content.

Wow, 30 posts or even two weeks would be awesome!

I probably have a whole bunch in the bank, but they aren't formatted yet.  I like to go through everything and put it together like I like to.

I strongly advocate having a big bank of blog content ready to post. It takes the pressure off, and frees up some of your time.

I write about four posts a week not including roundups.  Right now I have about four weeks worth.  My goal is to stay a month in advance.  I'd like to keep writing +1 or +2 a week which then gives me the flexibility to do guest posts elsewhere, which is something I have not been able to do, largely because of not having built up a queue in the past.

I'd also add an extra week to two weeks with summer coming up.  Many of us are going to be going on vacations, and if you're gone for a week, chances are you'll have a couple days before (while you pack) and a couple of days after (where you're catching up on work and everything else) in addition to the week you're off, so really every week you're off will likely translate into two weeks of not posting.  Build up that queue and you can run on auto-pilot.

Wow.  I guess I need to get writing.  I have been on the fly.  Good for you.  I guess I have never been good at planning and when I started I had 10 articled banked up.  Now that I have been doing it for a while ok 6 weeks, I have kinda gone with the flow of the media.

I have about 2 weeks worth.  It would be more but staff writing takes up my blogging time.

Wow! You must be an experienced writer. Posting a new article everyday at the last minute sounds really tough. Personally, I would have such a hard time doing that.

Gee! That sounds tough. I don't think I could manage that. By the way, I got your email last night, and I'm getting on that subscription thing. Thanks so much for the heads up.

Every time I have a good post idea, which is usually during my commute in the morning or in the shower, I write it down in my drafts as a title as soon as possible.

On the weekends, I beef up the post and make it into an actual post. I save it in my drafts and then on Sundays, go back into my drafts and schedule posts for the week based on what I have. I usually have a few left over, because one weekend I had so many good ideas that I wrote like, 10 posts on top of my normal ones. I don't have a set amount and I don't strive to have a set amount, I just have whatever comes to my mind and whatever I can work on over the weekend (my only "time off").

I strive to post at least 6 days a week, if not 7. Sometimes, I don't schedule a post one day and just promote my previous posts that day. That said, I probably have about 5 either outlines of posts or full posts in my drafts that I can use if I need them.

30 would be cool, but that would take forever.

That's an interesting blogging system you're using. You post quite a bit of content each week. That's quite impressive. Promoting previous posts is something that I should probably start doing myself.

If I had a pen in the shower, I would have a list of at least 1,000 more post ideas!
