Are you debt free? Or have you paid off a large debt?

I'm looking for guest posts from people who are debt free (either completely, or all but the house) or who have paid off a large debt for my Debt Myth site — something that tells how you did it, and is encouraging to others who are getting out of debt. If you're interested, shoot me an email or reply here :)

We paid off a student loan and auto loan in pretty rapid pace a couple of years back.  I'd write something but it's probably 3-4 weeks before I can do so, as things are pretty crazy right now.  Shoot me an e-mail if that might work down the line.

Never had any debt. No student loans. I got a little from parents, little from the government and had a part-time job every weekend and holiday. Lived luxurious as a student since I rented a whole townhouse (to convince the landlord I wore my first tie ever) and sub-rented rooms to 2 other students (keeping the biggest space for myself).

Paid off any credit card spending at the end of every month. Bought a house when I could pay it cash. Etc.

Let me know if you want a guest post on this. Not sure if it is interesting for anyone but I'd be glad to tell everybody to work hard and live in their means. It makes the world a better place.

I just have my house that is a debt but not really as it pays for itself. Soon it will be on the plus side.

I paid off my car while in school and my private school MBA loans 2 years after graduating. I might be interested.

I don't think I'm a good candicate for a guest post since I haven't even started my own blog, but I have paid off over $28,000 in consumer debt over the last few years. The biggest was my student loan ($16,000). It felt great…….until my wife graduated with another $18,000 in SL debt   :P. I am starting a budget-themed blog soon, but will probably have a debt-payoff challenge blog eventually to set some goals to finish off that student loan and start tackling the mortgage aggressively.

I like your site, btw.

Good work Jacob, I can help you get the framework started, too, if you need it! I recently paid off $25,000 in credit card debt, but it took awhile. I'm on the road to all-the-way debt free, so let me know if you want more info! Or, check back next year, since that's probably how long it will take.

I'd love a post from any/all of you. (And Jacob, you don't have to have your own blog to tell your story, but I think starting one is a good idea.)

What a great inspirational idea. Unfortunately I'm not debt free right now but maybe some time in the future I'll have it all paid off. I've only gotten rid of my student loan so far but currently still have a retirement loan of $8000 outstanding.

Hi Jackie!

When my wife and I got married we combined our finances and discovered we had $52,000 in debt. It felt like we were living paycheck to paycheck and there didn't seem to be much light at the end of the tunnel. We decided that we would put together a budget and follow it monthly, we reduced our expenses the best we could and I even took on a second job delivering pizzas. After about 18 months of doing this we became debt free except our house! By the way, I would love to do a guest post for you. I get excited just typing about it :)

$52,000 in 18 months is very impressive.  I'm  guessing there was a good combined income to allow that to go that fast, as well as a lot of focus and determination.  I'd like to see more details in a blog post :)

Thanks! We do have two incomes and we ended up selling a car that had a loan and bought a beater. It took a lot of sacrifice for a short period of time but let me tell you, it was worth it!
