Okay Niche Site Duelers,

Khaleef won phase 1 of the original niche site duel, making it to #1 for his search term in less than 2 months!

This time we've decided to do a year long challenge.  Feel free to build your site now and join.  The goal is to make $1,000 through your blog through any type or combination of blog monetization method(s) that you wish.

The first niche site to reach $1,000 in gross earnings wins.  We figure this challenge will take a little longer, so it will run through December 31, 2012.

Feel free to come back to this post to update us on your cumulative earnings.  Tweet your fellow niche site duelers on Twitter with the #nichesiteduel2012 hash tag.

Good luck!

I was thinking of starting a new site in addition to the one I have now.  Other than the ending deadline, are there anymore?

I'll be continuing with mine for this challenge!  Maybe we could do a few mini challenges along the way with other new sites?  Anyone interested in that?

Your key word must have a minimum global search of at least 1K per month.  You're free to build a new site and enter!

I totally forgot to ask, but Niche Site Duelers, it's time to tell us how YOUR blog did with its earnings in January.  I'll put it all together in one Google Doc.

My site, shiratakinoodlefacts.com made a whopping $1.79 in January.

Well Sandy, you did much better that me! My niche site, http://protectivestyles.com made a total of $0.37 in January.

I didn't do anything to monetize except put up AdSense on the sidebar. I am hoping that my March numbers will look much better than this!

Big goose egg in January.  Seen a slight uptick in Feb, but nothing to write home to mom about.

I still haven't made a penny.  I'm basically done with the site and don't plan to do any more work on it. It is a seasonal topic so it might start making money next fall.

Okay-  I am trying my hand at this niche site thing again. It may turn into a niche blog that I regularly update, but we'll see. I will be putting up more content over the coming weeks and then continue the backlink strategy. Begin try number two…
