Day 1 – Write an Elevator Pitch for Your Blog

Today the
teaching and task revolves around the idea of creating an 'elevator
pitch' for your blog. Today's task comes down to refining what it is
about so that you as the blogger are crystal clear on it and so that
you are able to communicate this to others. Take some time out today to
develop an elevator pitch for your blog. If you’ve already got one take
a few minutes to review and refine it.

I think I have one of these, but I'm a little clueless on blogging terminology. Here is my pitch on my home page (right side bar) which is slightly different from the text on my about page:

I'm a true valley girl who writes under the pen name Little House. I blog about personal finance, saving for a home, and little house plans. If you landed here searching for house plans, be sure to check out my house plans page. I've collected lots of great ideas for small home plans. Enjoy!

Is this similar to an elevator pitch?

Little House – It's similar but I think it needs to be tighter.

Kay Lynn – I think yours is really good and you hit the quick and to the point idea of it. :)

Here's mine: I'm a frugal mom making the most of meager means, saving my quarters to save a quarter of my income.

I really struggle with this, and would love if anyone that reads could suggest something. If you have seen any of my guest posts elsewhere, I always have a different mini-bio. I find it hard to define myself and my work I guess..

here's one that always comes back in some way, shape or form, but I think sucks:

Personal Finance Firewall, or PF Firewall for short is all about keeping
what you earn. The site focuses on ways to save money as well as make
more money and essentially live a better life.

Little house, It is close, but I think it needs to be a little more specific? like, how you will describe your blog to a stranger (if you ever do that :) )

Kay Lynn & Saved Quarter, I think these pitches are great. Jesse, if I may say this, can you make it a little more impressive? I mean, firewall is a great term and your tag line "A burning passion for personal finance" is great too, but your elevator pitch doesn't really capture the uniqueness of your theme – a firewall for all your money going in and out and keep it in check…. It just reads like another blog to save money (sorry, if am talking a little too much!)

Barbara – I like it, but I wonder if you could make it more concise.  I think you could combine the first and second sentence to make it tighter – maybe something like "BFPF instructs and motivates you to become rich and happy, with personal finance principles, engaging stories, and understandable examples from a real Portfolio Manager." It gets the same information across. What do you think?

Can I reuse my "short about " as the elevator pitch? I did this a while ago, but I haven't updated it in a really long time.

Here's what I have right now:

"Invest It Wisely is about evaluating the choices that each of us face everyday. It’s about investing your time, your money, and your energy wisely, in order to achieve your goals. The end goal is maximizing your life expectation, and exploring the ways to get there."

What do you guys think?

Invest it Wisely – it's good for the longer version, but you might try to make a shorter, tighter one sentence version.

Solobizcoach – you could be a little more specific. What does your site offer that I couldn't find at any business site?

I'm a little late to the party but hope to take this 31 day course.  :)

Okay, my tagline is my signature on the bottom of this post.

My elevator pitch is: "Yes, I Am Cheap is the blog of a 30-something New Yorker trying to pay off a 6 figure in debt. Follow along as she begs, borrow, stea–, uh, works hard to try to pay off as much debt as possible and shares what she learns along the way."

Your feedback is always appreciated.

I'm digging my way out of some serious debt at
