I've been playing around with ad layouts on WhatMommyDoes.  I used to have all combo ads in every ad block (either image or text based ads could show), but now I'm leaning toward text only.  From a reader's standpoint, they just seem more "clickable."

What do you think?  Do you have any preferences on your sites?

I would recommend reading Online Money Bloggers. There is great insight onto what leads to the best results.

I tend to gravitate towards banner ads. Text ads seem less invasive, but I don't know that I've ever gotten a click on one.

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

I've seen higher clicks on text ads but I think it depends on the audience. I think your audience would favor pictures.

But honestly, the best thing to do is test. Split between running text only or combo ads for a month and see how it goes.

Thanks for the tips, everyone!

@LaTisha – I think I will do some split testing. I agree the average mom would favor pictures, but I would bet most clicks come from search engine readers, not subscribers, and I would think that text ads fare better overall.  Just a hunch based on assumptions, though!  LOL  Split testing it is!  :)
