Hi guys,
Anyone here use AdWords? I actually played around with it a bit because of a free $100 offer, but didn't want them tapping into my credit card. Interesting as you are forced to think of keywords for your blog. Any good or bad experiences?

I've used it for my businesses and didn't really get such a good return. People were very clicky but didn't order much. I might use a free credit for one particular post on my blog.

I used it for my niche site, and got a good amount of hits and revenue as a result. I did the same as you and only used the $100.

I never did it for the same reason as you. I just didn't want to give my CC info, and I didn't want to get a bill larger than my credit. I don't think it's really that beneficial for blogs.

Did you get good traffic? I don't have any products or affiliates. I was thinking of using the $100 to funnel more traffic, but concerned about leaving my credit card.

Nice! Glad to hear. Since you had good results, would you consider using AdWords again on your own?

Guess this is another reason to also have a niche site?

No, I made money but not enough to pay for AdWords going forward.

I used free credits twice. It is very effective for clicks and extra traffic. I never tried it for conversions though.

I have used the free credits before as well. It is really hard to get people to stay and the average visitor on my blog isn't really worth much, certainly less than a click costs, so it doesn't work for me unless it is subsidised by Google.

My take is that it might work on a niche site but for a broad-level personal finance site I couldn't think it was going to make a difference, or at least that the free $100 would make any kind of dent.

Did you watch it carefully so they don't start charging your credit card? After your trial, did you just pause or delete your campaign?

Henry and MB,
Thanks for the feedback! Funny, $100 isn't what it used to be.

I used the free credits as well. I was making a little money from it but not enough to actually pay for ads. Google decided my site was a bridge page and disabled my ad so I wasn't able to use all of my free credits. My site is definitely not a bridge page and I tried to convince Google of that but once they make a decision they are not going to change it despite clear evidence that they are wrong.

I think I'm going to use this on a niche site that my wife and I are putting together.

TFM,
Sorry to hear about the big G. I'm sure you're doing ok without them.
Khaleef,
Good luck with your niche site!

Find a competitor that you want to Mimic, and then you can go to a site such as http://www.ispoinage.com or http://www.mixrank.com to figure out what kind of keywords and titles they are using.
Google Adwords takes a LOT of time to figure out, it's tests after tests after tests before you can figure out what works.
$100 credit won't do you much at all.
