My IKEA chair broke several months ago.  I was low on cash and have been using an exercise ball ever since.  Some days, it's great.  Other days (long days) my back and shoulders get so tired, even with stretching I literally am aching for a proper chair some days!

One of my designer friends has an Aeron chair by Hermann Miller- pretty snazzy.  Also, pretty pricey at about $600+!  I am looking for a good ergonomic chair on Amazon or elsewhere and am pretty intimidated by the huge variety of price differences, options and curious as to what is required to slap a "ergonomic" label on a chair (and worried about getting ripped off!)

Any thoughts on the subject?  Do you have a fancy-shmancy expensive chair for your back? Was it worth it?  Do you have suggestions on what to buy or what to look for?  Your help is much appreciated!

In Gratitude,

Shannyn

I have an IKEA and an Aeron.  Like them both.  My angle is that I spend hours a day in the chair, so it's essential for me to be comfortable.  Don't be cheap with shoes, mattresses, or office chairs.

Take a look at Staples.  They have different sales on chairs so keep an eye out.  I'd go check the store and sit in a few.  A chair can get great reviews but if you aren't comfortable then the reviews mean nothing (look for reliability).

That's tough because I would want to sit in it first. However if you buy on Amazon try your best to stay away from the 5 star and 1 star ratings.  Life is great on the planet 5 and horrible on planet 1.

I would check Craigslist for used chairs.  An Aeron (on Craigslist) can be $350-450.  The cheaper prices seem to be scams.  I am looking for a good one too.
