Wanted to see if anyone knows a plugin or way to to do the following:
I have a handful of affiliate links on my site. I sometimes encounter the affiliate taking a program pause, which means I have to remove or update the links in all of the posts. I read somewhere about a plugin that lets you enter the URL of the link and it generates a new, cleaner, shorter link for you use. The great thing about this (as least from how I read the article) is that if you need to remove or change the original URL, you only need to do it once within the plugin and all of the shorter links will be automatically updated.
Does this make sense to anyone? I can't find the article I read this on but would love to use something like this.

I think there are plugins that do this. Prettylink is one of them I think but I haven't used it myself. I use MBP Ninja Affiliate.
I hear ya on how annoying affiliate pauses can be!

Prettylink is the way I do it. I run about 25 programs, and I always switch to the company with the best payout.
Prettylink gives you a link like thecollegeinvestor.com/linktext
In the Dashboard, you can just update the link to whatever you want – affiliate link, or just the original site.

Another vote for pretty links. I just installed pretty links lite 2 days ago and it works well. Already saw my first conversion using pretty links so I know it works (and I tested it too).
I wish I would have started using something like pretty links very early on, since I now have a lot of legacy referral links hanging out in my old posts.

I'll just throw in another vote for pretty link. It's awesome that you can change the affiliate link for a product in pretty link without having to change each link on your site.

Pretty Link all of the way. I highly recommend it to anyone. I went with Pro, so I could do keyword replacement, reports, and exports. It is worth it to me as well.
