Does anyone have any recommendations for affiliate programs that have worked well on their site? I'm just using google adsense right now, which is fine, but curious if anyone is willing to share, or would taking a peek at cj.com be a good place to start looking?
Thanks!

Am looking at this myself, not much success yet and no joy with CJ. They have some finance affiliates but you have to apply for each 'link' and I was only approved for prosper.com which hasn't paid off.
Got some more cards now and went thru ncsreporting for that, but they typically only give Discover first.

LinkOffers.com has some of the best affiliates for finance-related programs
TextLinkAds.com is also the best place to sell small text links.

Here's a list of most of the major affiliate programs, but I think CJ and Flexoffers are good places to start.

I had a terrible experience with FlexOffers. Much more success with CJ.

I've heard that insurance is quite a lucrative niche to sell in via affiliate marketing.

Ive been working with CJ for years… they're by far the best one I've worked with. Linkshare is decent too, but I prefer CJ.

How much traffic do you need to get approved for most of the CJ programs?
I was accepted to a few, but denied to some of the ones I was most excited about. I figure it has to be site layout or traffic… and I sure hope there isn't something wrong with my site.

It really depends on the affiliate… some of them just auto approve everyone, some of them do it manually but allow most, some are pretty strict.
Sometimes it's due to things out of your control … for example I live in NY state, notorious for high business taxes, so some affiliates will not approve me no matter how good my #'s are because they would have to pay too much in taxes.
Have you tried emailing the affiliate to see why you got rejected? Usually theres a contact on the affiliate's CJ page.

Is there any particular company/program on CJ that you guys have had really good success with? Seems really hard to choose from which ones to primarily promote since there are so many

It all depends on what posts get the best traffic on your site. Here's an article I put together on Developing Affiliate Income.

Over the last 10+ years of marketing, I have had the best success building out in house affiliate programs.
CJ, LinkShare, FlexOffers are all pretty expensive for advertisers, and don't give much 'juice' for affiliates.
ANNOUNCEMENT! . . .
Yakezie.com now has their own network, YakezieNetwork.com (sign up if you haven't already done so)
The goal of this network was to help save you time from finding the 'right' offers, or contacts for particular offers and provide you with the top performing, highest paying offers available today. I'm leveraging my contacts and experience to bring on the offers direct.
