Alexa: Broke 100,000!! | Bloggers Lair | Yakezie Forums

We started our blog Nov 20 with an Alexa rating of 23 million and we started the challenge.

Precisely 8 weeks later we broke the 200,000 mark.

Today I checked and we are below 100,000! (99,778) in our 15th week of being live.

 

Thanks a ton to all who visit and subscribe to our little site.  Being new bloggers we're floored by the support we have received and the following we have garnered.  You were all instrumental in our success to date!

1) Networking

1a) posting on other bloggers sites many many times each day – with RELEVANT feedback (usually)

1b) posting around this forum.  letting other bloggers get to know myself and by extension our site and Mrs. SPF

1c) treating others with respect

1d) help others as we have been helped

 

2) Quality content.  If you write it, they will come.  We put a lot of effort into our primary longer articles.  We also picked a topic in PF that we think is not really covered: Showing how people can handle their PF in a smart (read: financially astute) manner by adopting sustainable living / lifestyle choices – and try to back up our stories with the data that indicates as much.

 

3) Dedication.  Never stopping 1 or 2

 

4) Our sustainability series.  Short blurbs on how you can be "green" and save money, power, energy.  People seem to like it.  Sometimes they learn something, sometimes they add to what we've written – some tips get nuthin! 

 

5) Our weekly reading.  I like to think we write some unique bits on every single post I highlight.  I try to give 5-7 articles 3-4 sentences and all of the rest I like to show I did indeed read them (so no:   ___________ at xyz.com tells us _______blah___blah_____ mentions).  People see we linked to them and liked their material and they might come check us out too.

6) Consistency.  We haven't been perfect here, but we do try to:

a) write 1 tip per day

b) write articles Mon and Weds

c) weekend reading posted Friday

d) daily commenting at some my fav 60-70 blogs

e) submitting to carnivals every few weeks

7) The Yakezie mantra: Selflessly Support Others

- here i've managed to do a number of things such as helping people with code, taking on a last minute Carnival, providing my honest opinion on ideas and in some cases peoples websites, directing an advertiser to a member which in turn has led to a small campaign (one of these days i'll see that post in the private forums ;) ), offering up a contest prize, looking to give guest posts to bloggers in need of help

 

I can't pinpoint exactly what has worked and what has not.  I like to think it all works.  Karma?
