I found this funny, so I had to share it.
I got a request for a 'guest post' from Roxanne Peterson. Since I don't know this person and the examples of guest posts always had a link back to some site, I emailed 'her' back saying that I would be interested in a post if it was original content, but that I also charged for links in the article. This is the response I got:
'I was looking for an original guest post and not the paid post buddy. I
have done hundreds of guest post for other bloggers. I will give you an article
of 600 words with only one back link on my site in the authors bio. What
say?'
Roxanne
I can't wait to do business with Roxanne. What an opportunity! Ha!

I love the ones I get that are obvious sites that make their money off of SEO that want to include the same linked phrase 2-3 times for free. Ah, the fun of running a blog, lol.

I think I've seen this Roxanne on either my Google chat or on Facebook (I get these every now and then). I'm working then I get a "Hey!" in my chat like I know the person. My response – "Umm, do I know you?"
I'm not master f stiquette by any means but if I don't know you and you start a conversation "Hey, what's up?" Like I've known you then you don't get my time.

That's too funny! I can't stand bad grammar or the "I've done tons of guest posts" emails! they always say that and can never point me to one decent one!

I have seen these many times. I don't even bother to respond anymore. I just hit archive and move on.

Get at least one of these a day. I used to reply to them but since I found that to be a waste of time I don't bother with them anymore. I guess they think we're too stupid to realize that the guest post benefits them much, much more than it benefits us.

I get these types of emails on a daily basis and my response is always the same. This was sent to Roxanne on Friday
Roxanne
I would absolutely be interested in creating a mutually beneficial
relationship. My Journey to
Millions is a PR 3 with an Alexa ranking of
around 85K, it is also one of the few sites within the WiseBread top 100
that accepts text links ads and sponsored posts.
If you would like rates please let me know, and please do not offer the material as compensation because I didn't request the article.
By the way it is REALLY unprofessional to have your name on the email, tell me you
wrote those articles and then those articles have an author byline of Ryan
Smith.
Additionally, I have a huge network I would be able to get you into at a
fantastic rate. Their PRs range from 0 to 4, and we can discuss a deal
prior to me introducing them.
That middle paragraph was in response to her examples of writing.

I got the email as well. I looked at "her" guest posts and none of them had her name. I was debating whether to reply to her or not, after seeing this thread, I think I will just ignore her.

"Roxanne" hit me up too. Because I'm hopelessly sarcastic, I made the mistake of responding to "her", telling her I could use my connections to get her on the front page of The Wall Street Journal, that kind of thing.
Doing this from a Gmail address meant getting her in my chat view and receiving a bunch of texts. I learned my lesson.
What I don't get is the point behind this. I mean, this isn't spamming. This is targeted, one-on-one annoyances. And to what end? There have got to be more efficient ways to scam money out of people.
(By the way, anyone who wants to pay her to write a guest post? Hire me for half price and I'll even spell everything correctly.)

I just hate myself sometimes.
"Roxanne" wrote me again today saying 'still waiting to hear from you'. I wanted to just end it so I said 'sorry, no free sponsored posts here, see ya' (in so many words). This is the latest response:
"cant we do mutual thing? I ll allow u to do a posting on my site as well? http://www.debtconsolidationca……com/blog/
please check"
This person just won't give up!
I recommend everyone avoid Roxanne! :)

I remember that post well. I believe "Nancy Davis" was stalking around back then! :)

I have the Yakezie pitch in an easy cut-and-paste form as well as something like:
"Hi XXX,
Thanks for contacting me! I do accept sponsored posts (or link ads or whatever they are "selling), but there is a charge involved. Does your company have the budget to buy space on a site with an Alexa ranking of 51,500, a Mox Rank of 5, and a PR2? If so, please get back to me!"
Thanks again,
Crystal
http://www.budgetinginthefunstuff.com"
I get responses from about 25% of the people I end up sending this to. :-)

Ok, got it. I'm new so I don't know about this kind of thing. Kevin explained it quite well. Thanks for the heads up.

I've never encountered anyone so pushy online. Ever.
I've posted what I've said I would of hers but I'm done dealing with her.
Do not under any circumstances accept her friend request on FB. She will hound you to death.
"Post it tonight plz plz plz"
I'm not joking.
Stay far, far away …

Oh my gosh, I bet she is Nancy Davis. That was exactly how she was with me. Telling me to post it that morning, blah blah, and all for free. She follows me on twitter, but I never returned the favor.
I would hate to have their job, whatever it is.

By "her" I meant Roxanne Peterson. That was the name she went by.

Mbhunter – I figured you meant 'Roxanne'. However, I don't think they use their real names. She behaves much like a 'Nancy Davis' I dealt with. In other words, if it doesn't work to try with one name, make up another. Who knows.

Love these! I have a re=spam e-mail I send spammers.
It simply states, "Let me know if you'd like to advertise."
Try it sometime. I think I've made at least a couple thousand from them since June 2010 who respond with, "OK!"

Just curious. I know that you all get them, but how do you treat messages asking for a review of a new book when a free copy is provided? I know that some treat reviews as advertisements and charge accordingly, but I'm just curious as to what YOU do. This will be a big help to me. Thanks.
