Has anyone checked out Viglinks? Apparently, the way they work is as a go-between for affiliate programs. They have the account with the affiliate programs, then they automatically crawl your site and convert the links to sites with affiliate programs and change them into affiliate links which they then credit you with. If anyone had any experience with auctionads, it's a very similar idea, but on a much larger scale. I'm currently testing them out, but only had it live for a day or two.
They do take a 25% cut, which sucks, but is pretty standard. The upside to that is that with the weight of all of the sites on the service, there are some (like Amazon) who pay a much higher percentage of the sale based on volume, so the volume should bump up the cut on the sales enough to more than make up for it.
Also, there is some talk of there being the possibility of them being able to get around the location issue with some affiliate programs like Amazon. Not sure if they can, but there was talk about it.
If you want to check it out, it might be worth your time.
I have an affiliate link for them (they'll pay me 10% of your first years revenue if you sign up under me), which is this link:
http://www.viglink.com/?vgref=15898
If, for whatever reason, you don't want to go through the affiliate link and just want to go straight to the site, use this link:

Sounds promising. I'm using very little advertising space right now, but this might be useful down the road. Thanks for the link brotha!

I have been using Viglink since January. It's a pretty good system.

Interesting idea! Does it slow down your site? They are probably doing this via javascript…
Thanks for sharing, I'll check it out.

BeatingBroke,
Can you report back in a month or two and let us know how it went? I've been reluctant to try these things simply since I personally find the links pretty annoying, and other readers might think so, too. I don't want to add them in if it means like 2 cents per month but turned off readers.
Please give us an update and let us know how it goes!

I'd be interested to see how this works out as well. I'm thinking that with a 25% cut it might just be better to pay someone to add links to all your older posts by searching through Wordpress for all of your related posts. That way you have at least some control over what gets linked and what doesn't, and you save 25% in the process.
My biased scale of link annoyance:
Kontera (whatever it is) that pops up when you bring your cursor within 1/4th of an inch of any of their in-content ads.
In-content links to tag pages…can't stand that. (Don't know why. Maybe because if you can't link one relevant post from the current post, then what benefit does the reader get out of a link to 40 completely unrelated posts?)
In-content links to a post/blog homepage for keyword that doesn't offer some context for the link, or is unrelated to the present article. For example: a blog post about how you love Diet Coke (or whatever) with one or many "diet coke" links to an article about how you can save $1.00 on Coke products with some coupon a year ago.

JT that is probably a good idea for our sites since they have fewer posts, but some of the more established sites would go through a lot of hassle going through all their older posts.

You're thinking of a system like Kontera, or InLinks. This doesn't work that way. They only use the existing links on your site. For example, if you linked to a product at amazon, but didn't use your affiliate link, it would transform that link into an affiliate link for you. It doesn't add new links to the site, which is one of the reasons I decided to give it a try. I find sites like Kontera and Inlinks to be annoying, and they don't pay well. We'll see how Viglinks works out.

I think the bonus here is that they have relationships with multiple affiliate networks, which means that instead of having to find, apply for, and get accepted to all of them, you only need to sign up with viglinks. Maybe that makes it worth the 25%, maybe it doesn't, but, it's one of the reasons that I decided to give them a try.

My guess would be that it's a javascript bit too. The code snippet that you can use is java, but there's a wordpress plugin, which is what I'm using.

May be I am not understanding it right. Except for Amazon, everything else can be auto linked by a simple smart linking program, isn't it? Only amazon needs specific product links and everything else like mint or any other words can be generally linked to your affiliate linking right? What is different about this Viglinks? They have links that you are not already an affiliate of or something?

I've used Viglink for about 3 months. For my "main" affiliate programs, I sign up directly so I get 100%, but VigLink is nice for all those other "miscellaneous" links on my site that I might not have time to get to, but could be affiliated.

Thanks Wojo. So it is mainly to take advantage of affiliate programs I am not actually part of… Good info… Thanks. I will also give it a try.

Have you seen any income from it at all?
