Oh  nice! I just checked, and mine just got downgraded from a 2 to a 1! haha

Ouch, it could be the text links.  I know Crystal said hers didn't seem to affect her, but I wonder if her PR would have been higher without them.

I'm still leary of text links because of what I've read on other sites.  But it's hard not to consider them after seeing what some of you all have been able to bring in with them.  Adsense is providing me with more than just pennies, but not as much as I could get for text links.

Maybe.  If so, it ticks me off that Google has so much power over my earnings.  That said, I'm a stubborn Irish redhead, so I'll just find other ways to make money and they can bugger off…  Woot! MOZ!  I don't appreciate bullies, even if they are the biggest company online…

when people say "text links" what are you referring to?  e.g. if I use an amazon affiliate link on a word, is this a no-no?

No, that's an affiliate link.  A text link is a paid "do follow" text link for a website.  Basically, it's a link that you're only posting because you're getting paid to post it.  Text Link Ads is a major network for these types of links.  Google doesn't like them because it messes up their PR system which is based on links.  (They assume you only link to other sites that you find useful and recommend.)

From what I've read, Google also doesn't like links in sponsored posts even if you're not getting paid for it.  For example, a free guest post or a sponsored giveaway (with a link back to the company) could show up as a paid text link in Google's eyes.  I've had a couple of these on my site and they haven't seemed to affect me adversely.  But I would think too many of them could hurt you.

Thanks Paul.  I'll keep the amazon links in for now (even tho people never buy hehe).

Got over my initial disappointment pretty quickly.  Was really hoping for a 1, but c'est la vie – easy come easy go!

It is good to know we have over 9000 links in ad a young age.  That would be my commenting like mad daily at other peoples blogs and links from their sites?

I just noticed my update.  NarrowBridge went from PR2 to PR4.  My Israel blog stayed the same at 4.

They should be updated on this site the next time it does a pull on the PR database.

CC is back up to PR6 with this update. Last time I checked, MozRank was 5.8, PR was 5. I don't see any changes in traffic or search engine placement — It's likely this update had already happened "behind the scenes" and the big G just decided to make it public. I did see a significant traffic jump throughout January over December (up 20+%) but that's fairly normal for the start of the year for CC.

My PR stayed at a 3 though my traffic has been up.  Wonder if there's a secret 3.5 we don't know about?

Yeah, I noticed a bit of a jump too but that seems to be normal for me as well (from December to January).  I thought it was mostly due to an article I wrote last year about Prudential's Retirement Red Zone, but the traffic has continued pretty steadily.

Side note:  If you see ambiguous financial commercials on TV it can pay off to write an article about them – especially if they're related to annuities…  That Prudential article I wrote has been my highest grossing one on Adsense so far!

I'm a little late to the party it seems, haha. I went from a 0 (never assigned) to a 2 apparently. Higher would be even better, but that's a good start!

Not sure how my site went up to 2, yet Kris saw hers go to 1. Very inconsistent. I still think MozRank should be promoted more as its been updated more often and seemingly more reliable. This update hasn't changed my viewpoint on the subject, though it does show that PR isn't going away in the short term.

Agreed. I'm still very happy that we pushed mozRank, and I will continue to push it. I am happy that I am finally a 2 rather than a 0, but I'm not about to put my eggs in one basket! Gotta push alternatives!

Right, I'm not saying we shouldn't support MozRank.  I was around a 5 there long before Google updated PR.  But it's going to take a while for alternatives to catch on, so in the meantime it's nice to see PR get updated and for us to go up.  :)

@ Kris, I am definitely shocked that you are only a 1.
@ Paul, thanks! I hope that as I write more articles that are resources, that people will link to my articles and that might help.
Do you guys know if there is a tool that tells you how many backlinks your site has from various PRs? Such as 15,000 from PR1, 8,000 from PR2, …1 from PR9
