Hey Everyone!
We are now ready to take on customers at scale. To start this, we are launching an invitation-only affiliate program beta that offers your readers discounted membership to Debteye and revenue for your blog at the same time. Each user who signs up through your affiliate program will receive their first month free, and you will receive $5 for each customer that enters their basic information (name, phone #, email, state, & debt amount). You will get paid on this customer regardless if they sign up for their program.
Debteye is the world's first automated, online credit counseling
platform. We can provide your readers with the fastest, easiest and
cheapest way to get out of debt. Since our unveiling two weeks ago, we
have received nothing but positive reviews in major outlets including
Mashable, TechCrunch and CNN Money.
As part of the affiliate beta, we will create a custom branded landing page specifically for your readers. Our affiliate platform already allows real-time tracking, and we are adding more features as we go. As a beta user, we will directly incorporate your feedback into ongoing development on the platform.
If you would like to accept our invitation, please don't hesitate to contact me personally at kevin.yu@debteye.com.

$5? This seems pretty low. In order to do well, the webmaster would need to have at least 50,000 visitors to their site per month. And, if they have this kind of volume, they probably won't be interested in a $5 payout vs. a $100 payout from someone else.
I bet your program is great, but I think your pay out needs to be more….for me anyways.

I would agree too. The payout is too low. Best of luck though.

Actually, a $5 CPA isn't too bad. Most of the CPA offers in Commission Junction run less than that.

$5 for a free service is not bad at all! I know FlexOffers only pays $2.70 for taking advantage of a free 2 weeks with MorningStar.
If he has banners available that highlight that first free month…not a bad deal!

It's about the going the rate for lead gen payouts. Generally speaking, and not an endorsement, payouts are all relative and a diversified revenue stream is a good thing if your trying to monetize your site. Even the small $3-5 payout has a place.
More of a concern is the phone number plastered 3 times on the site and losing sales that way. Also, if they're not associated with an affiliate network, there really is no guarantee of payment. Just don't know if it's another fly by night business (which only makes you and your site look bad) or truly legit (making you look good).

It isn't a CPA payout. It's a CPL (Cost Per Lead). Most affiliate programs make you "sign up for stuff". We pay out regardless if the consumer signs up for the program or not.
Has anyone heard of DebtGoal? They pay out $20 CPA for someone who signs up entirely. If you ask me, that's pretty crappy. If we did a CPA, we would pay out around $100.
So if anyone is interested in doing a CPA, we pay a $100..but I assumed everyone would be interested in CPL.

On top of that, we pay out regardless if the customer completes the entire registration process. There's technically "4 steps"…the customer just needs to complete the first step in order for you to get paid.

JP, the phone # is only requested once on the first step. Affiliates get paid out REGARDLESS if a customer completes the entire registration process. As long as they complete page 1, which is 5 fields, you get paid! Think of it this way, $1 per 1 field, haha.
We're not a fly by night business. We've been featured in various articles (CNN Money, Techcrunch, Mashables, etc). We are running the affiliate program through HasOffers.

I'm not totally sure what the normal operating procedure is around the public forums and selling advertising but I prefer to not see it as it could become the norm and greatly dilute the quality of the public forums as more and more businesses hawk their wares.

I asked Sam before I posted this. He said it was ok. I apologize if it seems that I'm trying to solicit here, and that really isn't the purpose. I figured that bloggers were always looking for ways of monetization.

I think what JP is referring to is that you have customer service phone numbers prominently placed on your site and next to the first field forms, so it is likely that lots of customers will call before registering, and then affiliates tend to lose sales that way. So then affiliates drive traffic to your site online, the customers then call via telephone, and then the affiliates lose the sales.
You should remove the prominent phone numbers from your affiliate link landing pages to avoid this issue for publishers.
Some advertisers actually provide affiliate specific phone numbers that do register sales or at least an affiliate code for customers to mention via phone, so that the sales still get tracked.
It looks like it could be a good program for certain types of blogs, and I like your payout scheme, it seems reasonable.
I was trying to research this, but could you please outline exactly what your free trial offers access to, and then how much the price of your plans is thereafter?

Ok, that makes sense. Customers are NOT redirected to the homepage. They are re-directed to a "landing/capture" page where it asks for 5 fields. Once the customer completes those fields, then a pixel is fired and you get paid $5.

Out of curiosity, are there no customer service phone numbers listing on that landing/capture page? Or at least not prominently displayed.

There is no customer service phone numbers. I'll be glad to share it with you. We make custom pages for everyone and use your blog logo on our pages. We're making one for creditnet.com right now. Anyone who would like to see it just email me: kevin.yu@debteye.com

Forgot to mention, there IS a customer service phone number AFTER they fill out the information. But by then, you would be paid already.
