We all get offers for guest posts from people selling stuff.
It's wise to charge for these kinds of requests, of course.
But has anyone set things up to charge either a recurring fee for these guest posts, or to have the remove the links entirely after a specific period of time (say 6 months)?
In other words, why even sell a permanent link on these posts?

I would never do a permanant link post. As a wise blogger once said to me, "forever is a long time". I do yearly, because also, my blog could change from year to year – a year is a LONG time online.

Forever only if they pay the going discount rate. Let's see, if you use a discount rate of 2%, multiply the price by 50 times. I don't think they'll accept. ;) Heck, I doubt they'd even pay at 10% which is still price * 10 ( I think I'm missing inflation here, but you get the idea).

I've only ever had posts with links for a year. I wouldn't have a problem with permanent links – I'm not even sure I'm going to remember to remove those links come 2013.

I use Google calendar reminders to make sure I remove them on the expiration date (or try to renew)

I do it all…monthly, quarterly, annually, permalinks… it all depends on the customer, the price, and a few other intangibles…
