Well this is to all Yakezie members and challengers, I only recently discovered that there is a way to find out if your blog or website is considered as Authority by Google.

Well the benefit is that whatever article you write the article, you will rank higher and better in Google search engine than some other website or blog who is not an Authority.

I compiled a list of Yakezie member blogs who are authority and who are yet to get there. Sorry Yakezie Challengers you can check on your own and and also comment on my post and I will add your names.

Please check my post here at

Must have taken a while. Good stuff. I'm definitely no authority… but alas, I'll just keep writing and see what happens.

Commented.  Is being an authority just an extension of the factors that go into page rank or are there a different set of criteria?

Getting sitelinks is based on neither.  They usually come about from a certain percentage of links in to your site being based on a phrase.  Since the recent Google algo changes which have highlighted brands, this has become more of the case.

Keep in mind, also, that there are minimum Google traffic levels for sitelinks.  Basically, you're not going to get sitelinks for the phrase "dsfadsfdafklk dkafjlsfjsdl" because not very many people search for it.

The people who have sitelinks for their blogs have both of the following elements:

1) Lots of incoming links with the anchor text set as their blog's name.

2) A fair amount of people using Google to get to their site (to trigger traffic high enough for sitelinks).

Interesting.  That makes a lot of sense from the user's (searcher's) point of view and Google's business benefits when they increase utility to users.   Thanks for the clarification.

Also, I think having submitted a sitemap helps too.  When I hadn't submitted one I got nada.  Now it's up and my traffic is just about the same.

To expand on JT – Google says the sitelinks are created to help with the user experience. They have no mention of authority that I know of.  I've found that either popular articles are used (popular in the eyes of google search) or items like pages, that would help a user navigate, like what is already in your navbar.

Neat! Thanks for putting your list together and highlighting this. Your list says that I am not an 'authority', but when I put my blog name into google, it comes up with six links. Woohoo!

It also helps to have lots of internal links to the phrases that are important for your blog. Which is something I need to work on…

The general rule that I try to follow is five internal links to each article and they call it as creating Internal Link nets and it definitely boosts the ranking.

I try to include a link every 120 – 150 words, so it usually works out to 5-7 internal links in each article.

I use the 1 link per 120 words rule of thumb as well.  For me that's 3-4 links usually.  I'm shocked when I write anything more than 500 words!

Thanks for letting us know about authority and checking it out (and the link love of course).
