Sometimes they can reformat some characters, and then when you paste them into your post they get parsed into characters that are not valid within a feed. I just found out my feed's been completely messed up and apparently I had some invalid characters in there, but the characters were invisible from Wordpress whether in normal view or in HTML view. I found them and excised them after pasting into NotePad… what a mess!

Second the notepad thing!
I often draft out posts in an email and then copy and paste into the plain text view in Wordpress. I haven't noticed any issues, at least not on my live blog, but maybe in a feed…

The newest version of WordPress does have a "Paste From Word" function that seems to work pretty well at eliminating that.

Thanks for the tip! I regularly paste from Word, and didn't realize there could be problems. I haven't noticed any yet, but it seems like issues can happen anyway.

So long as this site likes your feed, things should be good :) http://validator.w3.org/feed/
