I recently read a blog post by a top blogger that the best and fastest way to succeed as a blogger/affiliate marketer is to get online blog coaching. I'm inclined to agree with him, and actually believe that any type of coaching is good; provided that it serves its real purpose. However, I believe that there are a large number of people, who became successful with blogging and are making a great living at it, who have never invested in coaching of any kind. My guess is that this was largely due to lack of money to pay for coaching and the time needed to seriously devote to it. Has anyone one here ever been coached as bloggers, and if so how did it work out? Also, how about those of you who are doing well, but have never been coached? When did you finally have your "ha-ha" moment when everything clicked, and you finally began to see the fruits of your hard labor?

What an interesting question! I'm excited to hear the answers from more established bloggers. I have receieved quite a bit of informal "coaching" from a few bloggers on here that have helped me along the way and I'm ever appreciative toward them – I wouldn't be where I am without them!!

Thank you, Daisy. I'm curious to see what others have to say about this. It could be very inspiring to those of us who are currently struggling, and need a great deal of encouragement. I find that the members here are very well-informed and extremely helpful in these matters. I've learned a lot so far just being here a little over a week. And, my horrendous Alexa ranking has improved as well. By the way, I took a look at your blog, and want to commend on you its design and content.

With a forum like this one, you no longer need to pay for the advice you can get for free. Sure it's not always one-on-one coaching, but the advice here has gotten me through every issue and problem I've ever had blogging. Im still not an SEO expert, in fact I really dont get it at all…and maybe it has hurt my traffic a little, but not my earnings.

If it has affected your traffic Justin, it most definitely has affected your earnings too.
As for coaching, I don't think there is a need to actually hire a coach. Instead start networking with some bloggers who have a similar focus. You'll find that between them and forums like this, you'll get all the help you'll need. People are more than willing to help out, especially if you are helping them with blog comments, social shares or links.
It will take a long time to get your blog rolling. Just get active on other blogs and it will gradually come together.

I have seen the ads or articles about getting blog coaching but I just figured that if I needed help with anything then Yakezie is just as good of a resource if not better than a paid coach, all for free.
The main reason I don't hire a coach is because I have done a lot of reading and am not sure what a coach could offer me that I couldn't search to find articles on or ask questions here to find quality answers. The second reason is money. If blog coaches were free I might sign up for one just to see what the results would be like but I would not gamble money on the fact that they know the secret to making money or getting thousands of readers a day.
If a blog coach is giving out secrets for a price eventually those secrets will become available without cost.

I think a coach would be a great idea for someone who needs specific solutions, critical feedback and committable action steps from someone who has done what the blogger seeks to do. I've worked with coaches for business before and it's really been great- but you have to make sure it's a good fit and the person is reputable.
As for my blogging "aha" moment- well it was when I was able to quit my job and focus on blogging full time. Since then I've been able to pick up some social media consulting clients and use my blog as leverage for other collaborations besides ad income. It's still nowhere near where I'd like it but I'm learning and hoping to grow.
Not all coaches are created equal! :)

Excellent contribution Shannyn.
I do think Yakezie can be as productive as a coaching relationship for new bloggers, provided new bloggers (myself included) get engaged with the community to seek and give feedback.

It's interesting to get so many different perspectives on the coaching issue. Yet, the consensus is that coaching, although helpful, is not really necessary. And, this is especially true for Yakezie members. I agree with everyone that being part of a community such as this one is a great way to learn about blogging. Thanks to all of you for your great feedback. Don't hesitate to add more ideas to this thread if you'd like. The more responses the better. And, I personally would really appreciate it.

I've never really thought about coaching exactly, but I do believe I have learned a lot from fellow Yakezie bloggers!

I agree, Michelle. Tomorrow will complete my second week with Yakezie, and so far I've learned quite a bit from the members here. It's a great resource of information, and it has helped me tremendously. And my Alexa rank is much, much better. I'm eager to see how things go by the end of the month.
