Hi everyone,
I mentioned earlier that last month I sat down for my first interview. The piece was finally shown yesterday on KABC 7 in Los Angeles. It will continue to be shown on several stations throughout the month. Very exciting! Wouldn't you know that I'm only in the video for a few seconds? Ya know, after an hour long interview!  I sort of expected that and I'm just happy to have the mention/new backlinks.

Amanda @ Frugal Confessions also told me not to underestimate my relationship with this reporter and boy, was she right. We are taping another interview later this week and it sounds like this story might be more focused on my blog. I also got a call from ABC Nightline News yesterday. My hands were literally shaking when I called them back. Haha. I'm not sure if they will use any of the quotes/information I gave them, but fingers crossed! The producer has started to follow my blog as well, so even if they don't use me for tomorrow's story, I'm hopeful they will call again.
This week has felt like a gigantic snowball. Fortunately – my family is doing a great job keeping my head in check. As I type this, the dog is getting in the trash and the family is making a ruckus in the kitchen. Sigh…LOL.

First of all, congrats! You made us all proud and reiterated the meaning and consequences of what we are doing out here.
I did analyze your site today for some time. I think your success is related to the niche you are writing about. We all write about earning, saving and ivesting in general. But you write about one particular topic, earning quick money online (Wacky way of earning money online!). Thats a huge differentiating factor for you.

I wish I had some wonderful, sage advice, but I think my press hits were a lot of luck. Both news producers found me through a google search. I'm not a huge fan of writing for SEO, but it might be something to think about it. Also, I think portraying yourself as an expert in your niche can help too. Even though it was just my mom reading the first few posts, I have tried to set up my website as both a blog and a reference guide. Hope that helps!

Thanks sooverdebt! I have definitely seen a traffic bump, but only a couple of hundred extra hits. Unfortunately, the original article/video displayed the incorrect web address so I missed a lot of the early traffic.
