I'm sure this topic has been covered, but I can't seem to find it using search. Where do you all get your photos for your log posts? I don't have any good images for my posts, and don't want to post any photos I find if they are copyright protected. I'm new to all of this and could use some help
Thanks in advance!

Flickr Creative Commons – Make sure you find ones that are okay for commercial reuse.
Also, Google Image Search – use the advanced search, and look for ones that are okay for commercial reuse.

I use Morguefile. All the images are free and there is no attribution required. It's my favorite by a long shot.

I, too, use Flickr Creative Commons and have found many beautiful photos for my blog postings. One tip – when you go to the site (http://www.flickr.com/creativecommons/) you'll see three classes of images: Attribution License, Attribution-No Derivs License and Attribution-NonCommercial No Derivs License. You want the first class, Attribution License, which is allowed for commercial use as long as you attribute the image to the photographer when you use it. (I do this in the photo caption.)
To search for images, click "see more" to the right of the total photos listed in the Attribution License section, and you'll be taken to a page where you can search. It's considered nice etiquette to post a link to your blog posting so the person who took the photo (and others) can see where it was used. And hey, you might get a little traffic from doing that so it's a win-win.

I use a mix of Flickr common creative, my own photos, Excel graphs, and powerpoint clip art/drawing.
I think it's a good idea to take a lot of pictures so you will have a little database to draw on.
Hunter wrote a little tutorial on power point a while back. Check it out.

I'll check out morgue file too.

Thanks for these tips. I've used Flickr, but I find they don't have that much variety.

Thanks everyone! We do have an SLR and my wife is going to try and take some photos for the blog, but it's good to know I have other sources. As for the PowerPoint tutorial, the link got cutoff. Can you re-post it?
Thanks!

I've been using the Zemanta plugin, which will offer royalty-free images based on the keywords it detects in your post. They used Wikipedia, Flickr, and a few other sources that I can't recall off the top of my head.

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

Become a photographer and take your own. Ok that might not work but I can swing it because well… you know the rest.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! I'm also hoping to get a logo designed soon so my website doesn't look like a therapy session. I feel like I should have a soothing voice-over when you enter the site.."Hello. Please…relax. Sit back and clear your mind. Imagine you are on a beach in Hawaii, spreadsheet in one hand, Mai Thai in the other…."

Haha, specifically I'm talking about the current state of my website. It has a weird feel to it (because of the header image, I suppose). I need a logo so I can replace it with something that fits better.
