BlogCarnival.com's Lack of Function is REALLY Getting Old!

From what I can tell, BlogCarnival.com loses 100% of the submissions submitted through their site. Does any one know if 1) they are just phasing out the site/shutting it down or what is going on? or 2) if it's working for you and it's just me that is having trouble?

I don't know about (1), but for (2) no, it is not working for me either. Or so I think. I submitted for 2 weeks through that and not a single entry went through. I actually didn't ask the host, but none of my entries got selected. I assumed they didn't choose me because it didn't go through, not because they didn't like my post Wink For the last 2 couple of weeks, I have been submitting via the BC workaround and everything is back to normal haha!

Yes, been using the BC Workaround as well.

You can always tell that BlogCarnival didn't process it correctly when they do not send a confirmation email.

Ah good! That is great. I always wondered if I was rejected or it didn't even get through. I never got any emails…

The BC workaround is now going to be my default sumbission mechanism for those sites affected by the regular BC system.  I too had noticed no confirmation emails in the prior week, and lo and behold those posts weren't included in the carnivals for that week.

It's good to know that it's not our posts that were getting cast aside :)

The last couple of times that I tried to participate in Carnivals, I got less than 50% of the confirmation emails that I was due. I haven't done it in about a month…I was hoping that it would be fixed by now.

I've found that it doesn't like some sites or emails. I can't sub my FFB stuff but my PFM stuff goes through. Could it be some kind of blacklist?  Dunno but it's annoying.

Been using Tom's BC Workaround.  Give him some love for putting it together for everyone to use!

I used to be able to submit just fine to BC, and now I think it is not accepting anything from me or the other sites I submit for.  I have been using BC work around, but what about other carnivals that BC workaround doesn't include?  For the other carnivals, I have tried to go to the carnival home page, but many of them just link to Blog Carnival, so there doesn't appear to be a way to submit.  Any ideas how to submit to other carnivals now?

I thought all the carnivals were included in the BC workaround? Looks like I know only about a few carnivals :) Melissa, do you mind sharing what the other carnivals are?

Here's a link to the BC Workaround….would also like to thank Tom of Canadian Finance Blog for having this option for all of us:

Carnival of Personal Finance isn't there, but the other major ones are.  COPF has a different submission platform anyway.

Don't know if they stopped allowing (knowingly or not) automatic submission scripts on the site, but that was a big reason I quit using them.  Way too much noise and unsophisticated SEO companies spraying their clients' links all over the place there.

CoPF had momentum when they left but mine (Carnival of Debt Reduction) petered out a bit.

If you want to roll your own carnival submission form, here's what I did.  (Full disclaimer:  http://www.blogcarnivaltips.com is another one of my blogs.)

http://blogcarnivaltips.com/20…..sion-form/

That submission form moved to the main carnival site (http://www.carnivalofdebtreduction.com) keeps things manageable, but it's necessary to promote a little more because it doesn't have the traffic that BlogCarnival.com has.

Side note:  If anyone has any interesting blog carnival related material / ideas, you're welcome to let me know and I'll give you a link back on blogcarnivaltips. :)

It's a pain but you can try to submit directly to each week's host.

Tom is a pretty good guy, and a Yakezie member.  I'm sure if another carnival needs to get added to his work around he'd happily add it.

On that note, he also runs MoneyIndex.org which is a merge of tons of RSS feeds in one spot.  He needs you to have a blog 3 months old – it is a pretty cool tool/site.

I started using them for my Link Love Carnival but was having too many issues. I have since made  a submission page on my blog. Thanks Tom for building a workaround for the existing carnivals.

Yeah, Tom is great! I keep forgetting about MoneyIndex – he was actually willing to put my new site up very early on!

Suba,

The other ones I submit to are Carnival of Financial Planning, Carnival of Road to Financial Independence, The Wealth Builder Carnival, Carnival of Traders and Investors, and Family Finance Carnival.  I also submit to the Carnival of Debt Reduction, but it has its own form, luckily.

It's great to know that the Carnival of Debt Reduction has it's own submission form. I've stopped submitting to any carnival through BlogCarnival. So, I usually only end up doing The Carnival of PF + the ones through Tom's form.
