I had a high school student reach out and she is writing about finance! Imagine that. Eva is already way ahead of the game.

She agreed to do a guest post and it's live here: http://youngadultfinances.com/5-ways-to-avoid-student-loans/

Please visit, comment, and share. Her Twitter is TeensGotCents. She just started in January (yes this month) and I want to help her keep the momentum going.

Thanks guys!

That's actually awesome! It would be great if more teens got into personal finance or just learned the basics. It would stop a lot of people from getting in over their heads with student loans. Good for her!

That's awesome.  Personal finance is definitely one of those things that 'the earlier the better' when it comes to learning.

Have you reached out to her about joining the Yakezie challenge?

LaTisha – you've got to share the secret.  I continue to get older by one day every 24 hours!

Seriously, that's great – the more people we can pull into the fold, the better.

Super impressive! Her site looks 100000% more professional than I could have done at 16!

Teen Got Cents

That'd be great if she could join a good support group like Yakezie! Especially from a young age, it would probably help to have some moral support when you come up against some of the negative trolls out there on the Web. She might also face some interesting legal issues (with payment from advertising and opening up financial accounts, etc) being under 18 that she could use some coaching with.

Speaking of that, I think I remember seeing somewhere on the Yakezie challenge application that you have to be over 18? Not sure how flexible that is…

Not yet. I didn't want to overwhelm her. She just started blogging like 12 days ago lol

Doesn't it look awesome? I have to admit I'm partial to the theme lol

As far as blogging I think her mom is helping her. She's listed as staff :)

For Yakezie, I think we did say 18 is the minimum age. It's probably best to keep it that way just for protection. I told her I'd be willing to help if she has any questions.

Thanks for the support!

It's amazing that she's already committing to an emergency fund at such a young age. I'd love to read more and more blogs like hers.

That is pretty impressive. I wish there were more younger folks that had an interest in finance these days. It seems like far too many of them don't have a clue because their parents are paying all of their bills through college!

Lol I spoke to her before and then she told me that she was in high school. I felt creepy! Good for her though. I'm impressed.

My youngest brother is 16 and he looks like he's 20. I really want to get him into blogging, but he hates typing. Maybe video blogging?

I remember I started when I was 20 and it felt weird being so young. Now there's finally someone younger than me.

If blogging would have been a thing when I was around that age, I probably would have done it.  I doubt it would have been finance related and I doubt anybody would have read it, but it would have been fun.

Good luck for her!

Me too!  I was on the school newspaper my high school years and loved having an outlet to write.  Now, I shudder to think about what I would have written about at that age, but that's another story!
