When I blog about the money I make blogging, I lump amounts together so I don't disclose each specific contract I make.  For example, I'll be breaking my blog income down by "Sponsored Posts", "Sidebar and In-Content Ads", "Widget Ads", and "Adsense" (adsense doesn't care, lol).

When I disclose my budget, I also lump similar things into some categories (I'd do that more if I needed to keep a contract amount secret – you could lump all child expenses into one category so that no one will know exactly what you pay for schools).

I am semi-anonymous but a few fellow bloggers and all my family and friends and pretty much anybody who's ever talked to me knows about my blogs.  I'm just as open in "real" life as I am online, so full disclosure has never bothered me.

Hope this helps.  Let me know if you have any other specific questions as I reveal pretty much every little financial detail of our lives, so I have experience in this arena, lol.

That would probably have been the smarter way for me to go, but I am a loud-mouth.  :-)  Seriously though, I am just so proud and happy that I can't keep my mouth shut, lol.

Being "live" for a week, we don't have much to boast about! ;)

We both come from families that didn't/don't have a lot of money.  We think this is why we're so savvy with our finances.  Our families don't know how well we're doing and it never comes up in conversation really so we decided that remaining faceless is best for us.

I've been fully disclosing my net worth on my blog every month since July 2003. The only way I would have done that, with as much detail as I have provided, is by remaining somewhat anonymous. Acquaintances who may only know my real name won't be able to find my blog, though some who do read do know me personally.

I reveal almost nothing about our net worth, or really anything income related.  My friends and family know about my blog and I really don't want them knowing about our finances.  I think it would affect some relationships.  I regret not staying anonymous, but I wanted readership early on I guess.

I blog about specifics but not total amounts (i.e. I don't say that I've saved X amount in retirement, but would probably disclose this amount if asked).  I run a piece every Saturday, dubbed "30k Saturday" that talks about how I spent money and how much that I saved during the past week with my readers understanding that I'm trying to save 30K as reasonably, but quickly as I can. I think sharing personal spending habits is key to being a real person. Aside from that, people love being in other people's buisiness. This is why reality television is so popular. And now that I think about it, Dave Ramsey's show is very repetitive and I now have grown bored of it – still, he has millions of listeners. People just want to know about other people's crazy finances.
