Which is your favorite, or do you prefer a different host?

I actually just moved all our sites to Big Scoots about a week ago after the HG fiasco.  I could not be happier with the switch. They're much smaller and thus are able to provide great service. The guy who helped us move actually gave us his personal cell number Saturday night if we had questions in regards to the move – which took about 20 minutes altogether. Our sites are moving much faster since we made the switch, and best of all they're not on EIG servers.

I moved to InMotion hosting and they are pretty good.

It's much faster than Justhost and I'm happy with them.

Yakezie and a few other blogs are with them too.

I use Site Ground. I've had no issues 3 years running. They are fast at responding to tickets and when I have no clue how they tell me to do something, many times they just fix it for me!

I'm using VexxHost. I'll probably stick out the contract, but I'm not terribly impressed with them. Before I signed up, I asked if the plan names (5k, 15k, 30k, etc) were traffic limits and I was told they were just marketing names without real meaning. But apparently I've been averaging 100% of my CPU limit, which means that they probably are limits in the sense that traffic above that is going to cause you to bump your head into the CPU limit.

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

Not Hostgator for sure!

I tried Vexxhost like Edward, they're not bad… upload speeds are incredible, but still seems like something is missing. Cant put my finger on it.

I have been using Hawkhost for some other sites, I'm probably happiest with them so far. Customer service is really great with them so far.

I'm on Hostgator and have been happy for the most part. All hosts have downtime on occasion, but I get 99%+ uptime and generally fast load time.

Here is a 25% off discount code for Hostgator if you go that route: YAKEZIE25P

I've been with Host Gator for over 3 years and am generally satisfied with them.  My site loads slowly, but then everything I do over the att internet network does as well.

I second inmotion.(aff link)… but if you only have one site they have a sister which is for bloggers who may have only a few sites…it is called web hosting hub (aff link )

Webhosting hub is significantly cheaper than inmotion.  They are out of california.  They have very responsive customer service and really work hard to make sure you are happy.  Great uptime as well.

I am with Hostgator since I moved from blogger in February 2011. I love how easy it is to get support. I either get on the chat or email and I get a quick response.

The server migration they recently did had some hickups. I was patient because I know it's hard and the providers don't always execute properly. I deal with that quite often through my work. I had down time once in the past that could not be traced back to a plugin locking up my database. Once the server migration was resolve, I saw an increase in performance on my site.

I can't say I tried many and I am not really interested in trying either unless I had more than one blog to test and compare.

If you have 99.9% up time, you are doing great. 99.999% up time is the expected standard for services like 911 (also referred to as five nines).

I use siteuptime (affiliate link Cool but basic usage is free) to notify me when my site is down. You get a monthly up time report and immediate notification when your site is down. Here is my report on siteuptime for those currious: "http://www.siteuptime.com/statistics.php?Id=10163&&UserId=147913&typemonitor=standart". Some of the downtime don't last long but they happen. Everyone probably has them but they don't notice them. I am hopping that it's 100% now that the server migration is done.

Testing the speed is really difficult to do from home as I don't even trust the speed of my provider. I believe that the theme you use has a lot to do with speed. I also don't store my images on my WordPress site, they are all on Picasaweb as I expect Google to have a better ability to serve content. Consequently, you could use a CDN to manage your images for fast access. The plugins you use can also affect the speed of your site.

Anyways, I am happy with Hostgator so far. I will be changing theme soon and I will be able to say if the theme change had an impact.

I use Just Host and am relatively happy with them. They moved everyone I think to new servers in April last year and since, there is very little downtime and when it happens it is normally resoved very quickly. I bought a 5yr package 2 years ago which gives me pretty much unlimited everything and paid £117 for it.  Also you can speak with them 24/7 by phone if you need to and even though at times their response could be better, I think overall they are pretty good.
