Do you have positive/negative experience? I've read that a lot of times you get denied. It is worth trying or not? Opinions? Thank you, guys!

I have made zero dollars even though I have tried promoting some of the companies I was accepted to. Maybe I am doing something wrong. I would love to hear what others have to say too.

I opened an account and was accepted by a few companies – ING Direct was one I believe. But I got rejected by others – Citi Cards, Etrade, etc.
My problem was I joined before I had good traffic to support affliate sales. Eventually, if you aren't getting any/enough signups, your account will be deactiviated and then closed. Right now, mine is deactivated.
It's somewhat of a Catch-22. Companies want affliates who will perfom and some seem very reluctant to let you in unless you can prove you're worth it. The problem is how can you prove it if they won't let you in…
I do know many bloggers make good money with CJ. I would say go ahead and open the CJ account and try to get accepted to some programs. Just know that you're on somewhat of a time table once you start. I'm pretty sure you're able to reopen an account, so it's not the end of the world or anything, but still.
Good luck!

At times I do well, other times nothing. It comes and goes. Early on, it's harder to get some advertisers since you need the traffic. It can help to email the managaer of the affiliate product sometimes.

I havn't had very much luck with CJ over two years. I actually have had much better luck with Pepperjam and am starting to try LinkShare.
- Thanks,

I tried it a long time ago. I got decent results with a prepaid debit card. I ditched it though because I felt it wasn't worth it.

I really like your blog. So, you are very welcome and I will be back. :-)
As far as making money goes -blogging is not an easy craft (whoever thinks that writing is easy is very wrong). It takes time. I am sure that experienced bloggers will concur to that.

Agreed – writing takes work. I try to research a lot. And do the math on how we save by living sustainably. Pro and Con.
The networking portion takes time too (and in our weekly roundup we included a GREAT post on the value of time ….) ;)
At some point, when we have traffic, I think the commissions will appear – but I hardly expect them after 4 weeks. We made $6.36 this month. More than paid for our domain name registration. We're small, and I happen to get a GREAT free hosting service – so we're up about $1.50 lol. But having a BLAST and we're going to be around a good long time as we both love to communicate in writing – especially in our particular niche.

If you think there might be products you would use in CJ then sign up (and there are a ton). Better to be in the system now than want to use it later and have to still go through signing up.

CJ has been one of my top earners. this was the first affiliate network website that i signed up with when i first started establishing niche content websites. whether you get accepted or not *your concern* is up to the vendor, not CJ. each vendor has terms they specify. some like to take their time reviewing, while others make instant decisions.
what i don't like about them is lack of communication. i was dropped from vendor relationships on a few occasions without anyone notifying me. something to keep in mind, otherwise you will end up promoting and not getting anything back in return. they have gotten better – but are they 100 % there? i don't think so. there are very few good alternatives to CJ based on my experience however.

Yes–you are able to reopen an account with advertisers; I had this happen, and I reopened an account with UPromise and a few others. I was accepted back very quickly. Still haven't made any money from them though….:).

CJ is pretty decent – the key is promoting the right offers, and having enough traffic to mean you get people to the reviews/offers on your site. I do pretty well with CJ at tax time, and on a few other products throughout the year. Other times it's a bit slow.

I do well with CJ whenever I promote a product in a post, but only then. Sidebar ads or in-post ads don't do much for me with CJ.

I think the trick is finding the right affiliate and matching it with the right content. I've done well with MyFico ads within an article about credit reports. The side bar ads get little if any clicks. Other vendors (quality names in my opinion) have not made any money. CJ service istelf is fine and easy to use. It seems that the affiliates who manually approve applications all deny my application without reason. But someone else said that sending a polite email to the administrator for the affiliate can get you approved.

Wow! I'm using Adsense for now and let's just say, I think of them as Adcents. What methods are you using? You may think that's small, but from my POV, it would take me a lifetime to get to that level. Thankfully, having a blast as well!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention Aloysa. Since I am still fairly new, I still have to learn about all these income methods! I will certainly check these out in the future.

Hahahahaha–I would like to call it "adcents" too:). I am up to like $61.43 after 6 months or so.

I have had a bit of success using Commission Junction although it took a while. As Freeby50 said putting ads in my sidebar almost never produces a sale. The best way to make commissions I've found is to find a good product that is a good fit for your site and write an article about it. Although they aren't as steady affiliate commissions make me more money than Adsense on Tight Fisted Miser so I've removed Adsense from the site. One of my favorite advertisers right now is Discover Bank, they pay you $1 per click rather than paying per sale. That allows me to make a little money every week even if I don't have any sales.
