Hi All,

Does/has anyone use(d) joomla for their blog CMS? I was steered in that direction by the design group who did our site. But now I'm wondering if we should have just used WordPress. Does anyone have experience and/or a preference between joomla and WordPress (or any other CMS)?

Also, I'm looking for some joomla widgets. Can anyone direct me to a good site to find top commentors widgets, blog rolls, and/or a category link. I've found one that allows a user to search blogs, but it's not exactly what I want.

Thanks for any help on the matter.

I have used Joomla for another site of mine (PregnancyPool.com) and while it is an amazing CMS…wordpress is SO MUCH EASIER! You are not going to find ten people on this forum that use Joomla to blog.  So when you have a question it is going to be tough to get an answer.

We use Joomla for our blog at work (we blog about our everyday work, so if we are stuck other people can help, anyway). As Evan said wordpress is so much easier for most people, I found joomla easier if I am integrating it with some programming like version control. But for most regular blogging stuff wordpress beats hands down.

Have you tried the extensions site @ Joomla, pretty much lists every widget you might want. Do a search for

"[what you want] site:extensions.joomla.org" which should give you the list of extension available for that purpose.

Regarding the comments, joomla has both Disqus and Intense debate, so that should provide the top commenters, recent comments and all those lists.

Okay, I use Intense debate. So I should be able to plug in a widget with top commentors from that? I'll check into it.

I use that joomla site, I was just wondering if there was another one as I haven't found exactly what I need (i.e. see available on word press sites).

Hmmm, maybe I'll dust off my programming chops to make Joomla worth my while :)

Thanks for the feedback.
