I'm trying to get started with affiliate links and I have signed up for Commission Junction. I'm not really sure how to insert pretty image links into my posts (for example if I wanted to put an image for Trade King at the bottom of a post about investing). Does anyone have a suggestion for a plugin to use, or is there a better way to do it? Thanks in advance!

Get the Pretty Links plugin – it will let you choose the slugs for your links, so you could have something like ayoungpro.com/tradeking instead of the long, scary-looking affiliate link Commission Junction gives you. So then you would upload the image to your post like any other image, and in the media popup you can choose whether to link to the image itself, nothing, or a custom URL (which is where you'd paste your Pretty Link).

If you're given a code for the image with the affiliate link included and just wondering how to insert it, you can switch to the text editor versus the visual editor in your dashboard and paste the code. When you switch back to the visual editor, you should see the image embedded in your post.

Hopefully that makes sense. Feel free to give me a yell if you need help!

Thank you so much Andrea. I think those instructions are so easy, even I will be able to follow them without further assistance. :)

I use Pretty Link Pro (affiliate). It was worth the extra cost for me to get more options and flexibility. Just note that it uses a lot of server power to use some of the features.

I'm confused about what Pretty Link Pro offers that I'd really want. I'm looking at the features and I'm not sure why I'd pay for "Pro." What am I missing?

You should also check out Flexoffers for affiliate programs. Commission Junction sent me an email stating that they were going to start charging me for having an account with them. I don't know of any other affiliate program that charges the publisher, so I closed my account.
