Has anyone tried Crazy Egg?  I just signed up for a month for $20.

It's similar to doing a map overlay in Google Analytics but it shows a heat map of where people are more focused on your page.

At Fincon11, Gregory Go of Wisebread said that it was one of the best tools out there.   I'll report back with some neat details (if there is any)

I've heard good things about Crazy Egg.  I've considered trying it out myself.  Would love to hear your experience!

I'm thinking the best way to use it is to let it run for some time (month?) then see where people are clicking and make changes based on the heat map.  Then watch the next month and look for results.  Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

I too recall this being mentioned in the presentation at FINCON. He was positive about it's value for Wisebread, which got me interested. So, naturally, I went to the Crazy Egg site and checked it out. On the fence about shelling out $20/month to try it since I'm definitely not getting 1 million page views/month like Wisebread:)  I'm interested in getting your feedback on how it went, if you're willing to share later.

I've used clickheat in the past.  Haven't used it for a couple of years, though.

For $20/mo you can add up to 20 different pages and 25,000 impressions (if I read that correctly).   I'm going to test it on homepage, some of my landing pages and posts (since most people come via search).

I only had a few impressions last night when I looked at it and it was pretty cool.    It's a small sample, but based on my current layout, nobody clicked on my welcome video.  But my popular posts underneath had more clicks.

Cool. I personally have never heard of it. I am interested to hear you report after the trial run.

Seems kind of interesting. I wonder why Google hasn't come out with a similar service yet. They should, like the way they're introducing real time analytics.

Google has a not-so-powerful similar service called in-page analytics. It shows where my users clicked by %, for a free service it might be the best but a heat map would most certainly be useful.

I've never heard of Clicktale, so no.   Does it look similar?

I remember Will talking about this. Once I make some changes to my site, I'll give it a try.
