Friends, all along I diligently critique your sites and designs. Can you please critique mine this time?

Is it better than the previous one, if you happen to remember that one?

Also there's slight changes like background and menu etc.

I have to say that I liked the previous one better.

You have five different fonts in the header–including the three in the penny. It also looks like there are at least 4 different shades of blue on the site–the background, the font, the circles, etc. I think it would a wee bit smoother if there were fewer shades of blue.

Using the penny imagery is a smart choice.

I like the way the penny looks.  I am not a fan of purple and I question your reasoning for putting a circle on the right side. It almost looks like you had nothing else to put there.  Is there a specific reason or meaning to why you put that there?

Of the two suggestion, the only readily doable option was removal of extra circle, I did it, thanks for that suggestion. It looks much cleaner without it.

Somehow I think this one is less noisy than the previous one. I am trying to find a nicer site background. Its a zero cost change, as I did the banner and the background both myself.

I can't change the fonts in side the penny :) I wish I could. Give me a color hashcode if you can that can blend in.

While I'm not an expert, I think it looks a lot better than the last one. This one looks a lot cleaner.

I'm not sure about this suggestion, but if you aren't completely sold on the tag line, you may want to get rid of it. As a result, maybe even lower the "ne cent at a time"

OK, what about now? Removed background color altogether, is it better?

I think this is much better than the previous logo. I missed the different versions but I like this one – it is clean and sharp.

The new one is fine.  I would have not used the penny for the "O" but that's just me. Given the style and content of your site you don't want a log that's too 'slick', so from that point of view it works.

SB – I think this is 10x better than the last one. The only suggestion I had was to try a subtle border (giving your eyes a place to stop) but it looks like you had one, then removed it.

I like your tagline – "Towards Betterment" (assuming no one confuses you w/ the investing website – betterment). I favor it over the previous…."…invest smartly" – I think it was.

For zero cost, I would say this is as good as you can get.

unrelated: Check on the rates page, a few of the checking packages have incorrect yields.

I like this one better than your previous banner.  Nice job!  I like the penny as your O in One Cent.  Can't put a finger on it, but not feeling the two purple circles.  How did it look to you without them?  Overall, much improved from before.  But that's just my two cents.  Laugh

It's missing something.  I put together a quick look of what I mean and will send you a private email with my idea.

Thanks all for your valuable feedback. I think I will go with all white current look.

SFI rightly said, given my pillars are saving and earning more than investing, more over the theme is 'getting ahead at slow and steady pace', I don't need a slick look or an image.

Also my favorite blogs PF have all chosen to remain as ordinary as possible.

@corey, the tag line tells the readers what to expect. So I want to keep it, but willing to change, question below

@buck, the circles add a little bit of color on otherwise dull look. Still working towards removing and then comparing

@funancials, I am now think about "The Getting Ahead Blog" as the tag line.

So its a decision between "..Towards betterment" and "The getting Ahead Blog"

Any preference.

This must have been the week of redesigns. I just (almost) completed one myself!

I think this looks A LOT better. It's less busy and easier to follow. I'm with Buck, though. The purple circles aren't doing it for me but at the same time, it's your logo and banner. If you like it, then you should rock it.

On popular demand just got rid of the purple circles and reduced the font size. Gosh! you were right. Its looking even cleaner. Also added a couple of color bar at the top and below the nav menu.

Its looking awesome, to me at least. I now want to use the right hand corner of header area for GRS style "link+ Social media+search" functions.

Man, its going to take the whole weekend.

Awesome Yakezies, very valuable advice!
