I've been with the same look and theme on my site for nearly two years now. I think it might be time for an upgrade and change soon, but I'd like to hear from the community: What do you like about my site, and what do you think could be improved?
I don't have a facebook presence at all, so that might be a place to start. :)
Thanks!

Hi there,
I just took a look at your site and I really like it! I like the header image you have with the money and coins overlapping. I get a nice sense of organization when I look at your site. It's very nicely formatted.
Just a few thoughts, as you mentioned, adding the facebook link would be good if you want to build that up. You might consider adding a newsletter optin (separate from feedburner) so you can start building up your mailing list if that is something you are interested in. One last thing, I wasn't sure what the EV in "Maximizing your EV in life" meant?
Otherwise, great work! If it's not broke, don't fix it :)

yeah that banner, yours and mine…equally bad and a little childish. Still Yours is way better than mine. Don't know why I am still keeping that banner.

The content's great. I read your blog every week!
Just two suggestions on the design. I'm just going to tell you the truth.
The background looks kind of boring, because of the colours.
But the big thing (like everyone else said) is the banner. There's a lot of things in the banner (coins, money, etc). It draws attention away from your site's name.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone, I appreciate it! The banner will probably be the first thing to be changed for sure. The subtitle about maximizing life EV is something only a regular poker player would understand, so I'll make that clearer, too. Not yet sure what to do about the colours and the rest.

I think the colors are good; but agree with the feedback on the header and EV term.
Facebook presence is good, but I'm fighting getting a Google Plus page. I just don't want one more thing to manage.

If you already use Gmail that one's super easy to do. I've just been holding back for my personal account because I have a bunch of photos on my Picasa and I've have to switch to using my real name on that account if I join Google+. Facebook on the other hand… I've never been a fan, even for personal usage. I just don't like the paradigm as much. ;)

Might I suggest limiting the number of teasers on the front page. The way you have it now, you are wasting lots of valuable real estate in the sidebar since it's blank halfway down. Well, that and it's easier to click the through to the next page than continuously scroll to through the teasers I would also consider getting rid of the tag cloud and implementing the Google site search rather than the standard search function. The tag cloud is just messy (in general, not just on your site which is why I no longer implement it on my own site), and by using Google's site search in conjunction with a blank template, you can add AdSense as a revenue stream if you have that type of traffic.
I just a redesign on my site, and did quite a bit of research to get to the current layout, so if you want any reference material for design/layout just let me know.

Ditto to what everyone has said on the header image.
Other than that, the page is very busy. The 17 links above and below your header are confusing – there's too many choices. The sidebar has a lot going on as well. I would drop the tag cloud and move some of the other lists to your footer – or maybe even a separate page (Your archives would be a good candidate for that.)
