Cross Promote Secondary Sites

Hi all,

A few members have secondary, challenger sites.  Do you cross promote with your primary or do you keep them as two entities?  Just curious, thanks!  Laugh

I actually have three blogs, and I sometimes mention my other blogs on my primary one, but not too often.  Maybe I should do it more?  I am thinking about including my posts on my other blogs when I do a round up for my primary blog to get traffic over to the others.

My challenger site is all about My Multiple Incomes.  As such, I do talk about my primary site, The College Investor, and highlight things I have done well or haven't done well.

I cross promote all of the time. But mostly just through links. I would only keep them separate if they are in completely different topics.

I cross promote my tenant site alllllll the time.  By now everyone is tired of hearing about it.

I'm digging my way out of some serious debt at

I think it's all about the subject matter of the sites.  Sandy's tenant site is a great example.  YesIamCheap.com and the tenant site are really close in subject matter, so the cross promotion works really well.  If, instead, she had a site on Bentley car collection, it wouldn't probably resonate as well with the "I am cheap" crowd.  Cross promoting in link posts is always good, but I would think you could do themed posts that would be structured a bit like a sponsored post would be that ended with a link to the "sponsor" other site.  The added context is likely to entice more readers over to the site than just a link in a roundup.

I don't have any other sites yet, but am planning on putting one in place this summer.  It will be totally unrelated to what I do on FamilyMoneyValues so I probablyl won't cross promote.

I definitely cross promote my sites whenever I feel it is relevant, sometimes I even repost articles with new intros and link to the original post if suitable for both sites.

Any time I can stick in a relevant link to my other site, I do it! I don't really do explicit promotion, but I just use keyword rich links when I can.

Hi Melissa,

Why not?  I figure you should use all the resources you have at your disposal!

Hey TCI,

Your two sites play off each other nicely.  I'm curious about a secondary site that is in a totally different area.  Cross promoting may not make as much sense.

Hey LaTisha,

Thanks for the feedback.  Your two sites are kind of related, too.  You should cross promote.  Nice going!

I don't cross promote much. I know it won't have much value SEO wise as they share the same IP now. If it is really useful to readers, I do. I will have to change the IP addresses. After that I might, but for now I don't. Even then it will only be between my 2 finance sites :) I have other sites which only very very few people here know about that are entirely unrelated niche. That would be weird if I did.

Hey FMV,

The site I'm thinking about is totally unrelated so probably no cross promotion, but might use BB's idea of sponsored posts.

Hey Forest,

Great idea of redoing intros, thanks!

Hey Khaleef,

That looks like the key, if the topics are relevant.

Hey Suba,

Since your two finance sites are on the same ip, will the Big G look down on you?  I figure two finance sites cross promoting would be the best situation.  Your other niche sites might not work well cross promoting unless they share a special topic of the moment?

Buck,

Google doesn't like cross linking between you own sites "too much". I don't know what too much is though. I do internal linking, so it is not like I don't link to my articles at all. Right now, I just treat my other blog like a completely different blog. I link to each other if they really belong there. Otherwise I don't.

The other blogs 99% won't have a common topic, so I never even think about interlinking them anyways.
