Page Rank isn't used by search engines either…… Not from my experience anyway!
Not directly forest, but according to Matt cutts, it is part of their magic. How significant it is, no one knows. It is also used in how frequent the posts are indexed, higher page rank sites are crawled more frequently than lower page ranks (this is where the dofollow, nofollow comes in picture I guess). How it is actually used, I have no idea. But from the very fact that page rank sculpting exist and it is discouraged because it manipulates search engine results, (in my opinion) means it is used somewhere.
Yes, but the problem is that the publicly displayed pagerank hasn't been updated since April. Presumably, Google updates it's own internal pagerank scores much more often, probably in near real-time. But since advertisers obviously don't have access to that data they can only go by the outdated pagerank. Hence the importance of mozRank. While it might not mirror pagerank precisely, it still gives a better indication of a site's authority than the increasingly outdated pagerank.

I only made that comment because I consistently outrank higher PR blogs and have never risen above PR 2….. My old site got dropped to PR 0 and backlinking still continuously helped me outrank higher PR blogs too.
If t matters it is pretty small in my experience.

Oh I am not questioning the importance of mozrank. And I am not saying pagerank is "the" ranking or anything like that either. As a PR 0 blog, I have all the more reason to root for mozRank. I was just talking about how the advertisors use pagerank (to bring them up on google) and how mozRank doesn't have "direct" application for them. I am not questioning its credibitlity. It is a good ranking system, an excellent alternative to PR, just wondering how it will apply to the advertisors. Thats all.

I haven't had any PR change, but found out my MozRank is 5, so that is awesome….I think!
